Rose's mom passed away this afternoon in her sleep. It was totally unexpected and Rose is so devastated that she keeps saying she can't deal with this. Maxine was a wonderfully sweet little lady of 82 and was mom to everybody in the neighborhood. Rose has been taking care of her for years and years and is feeling really lost without her already. She's already doubting herself and thinking she could have done something differently and things would be fine now. Rose said that knowing her mom went in her sleep should be comforting, but it just isn't. Rose needs all the prayers and thoughts for peace and strength to help get her through this.

Rose, perfectly 'said'! Though we grieve, we can't be separated in some ways from our mothers..like trying to separate sand and sugar mixed together because we are part of each other through osmosis or some big word like that. Thanks for sharing and hugs to you. Not sure what your mother would have said exactly but big smile and a "cool" on being accepted as a BBB vendor too! Something to look forward to and keep you busy too!

Rose,
I'm so glad you were able to reconnect with your mom before she past, I still remember your post in the family matter section and it touched my heart! My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family! Ann

Thank You to all the farmgirls who sent prayers, it means so much. My Mom passed away March 4. I went in to wake her from her nap and she was gone. She looked so peaceful. I try to console myself with the fact that we all want to go that way. No machines, no tubes, no medications and no pain. It works for a while but I took care of my Mom for 14 years. She was my friend, confidant, babysitter and the kindest most gentle soul on earth.
We are having her services Saturday here at the Community Hall. It is times like this that you really do appreciate the small town living. The outpouring of love and kindness has humbled me and I realize how much the cards and prayers mean. I will miss my Mom, at times more than others.
When I got accepted for the BBB vendors my first thought was to run over and tell Mom. God is good and spared my Mom and my family from the pain of a long lingering illness. We all know how it ends but it still hurts.
Again, thank you farmgirls for the prayers from your heart. I will survive this ordeal and my Mom will always be with me. She is the reason I am who I am today.

Thank you to everybody for your thoughts and prayers. Rose is doing ok. She's still struggling, of course, and has taken time off from work until next Monday. Everybody is still checking on her daily.

Many of us are pitching in to buy a fruit tree to plant in her mom's memory. Hasn't been decided yet if it will be planted in Rose's yard or at the Visitor's Center. We may end up planting two trees! Rose is very pleased with the idea.

There will be a memorial service on March 21 for those of you close enough to attend if you wish.

Lisa, please give Rose a hug for me. I'm so sorry to hear about this. She is in my prayers, I wish her peace and comfort right now. I know she did the very best for her mom and Maxine must have been one special lady. Lisa, thank you for letting us know.
