My wonderful hubby of 27 years went home to be with Jesus on Dec 14. He died at home with me holding his hand, cheering him on across the heavenly finish line. He is in the awesome presence of our Savior, and whereas I rejoice he is no longer suffering, I miss him so much.
I came home yesterday from spending 2 weeks with my family in WA state. It was good to get away, but oh so good to come home, though I spent all afternoon on the phone taking care of insurance stuff. Oi, my brain is a blur! I also came home to you farmgirls. I have been away so long because of my hubby's illness. Though I have missed almost a year of chatting here, I feel like I haven't missed a beat. So many changes await my girls and I, but God's grace and mercy will as always see us through, as will being here again, a place I love. Thanks for being here when I clicked the button

Thanks girls, I am feeling hugged.
Kristin, I love your tagline. Something I have to remind myself to do. While my husband was in the process of dying, I told myself that I was not going to pull the blankets over my head when he was gone. So, I made myself get in the habit of first thing after getting out of bed was to open up all the curtians, no gloomy house. Even though we are in our rainy/stormy season here in the NW, I open the first curtian and say, "Good morning Lord". The skies don't look so grey after that.
Dale and I met at church. My dad was filling the pulpit for a fellow pastor. Dad asked my sister and brother and I to sing that morning. Dale was in the congregation. We spoke afterwards. I told my mom that he was really nice, really cute, but his hair was so short. She informed me he was in the army. My dad, 5 months later went to start a sister church, Dale was part of that group. We moved up in January, Dale and I were engaged the end of March, and married July 4th.
He was a very passionate person, hot or cold, seldom was there a middle ground. He was steadfast, neat and tidy, to a fault, an excellent father to our 3 girls, an incredible husband and friend. He was a pastor for 20 years. So, I have not only lost my husband and best friend, but my pastor too.
It is still rather surreal. I still think he will walk through the door sometimes. I wore his fleece jacket yesterday, just cause it smelled like his colonge. I know it will take time to adjust, day by day, foot step by foot step. God is faithful.
For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

I am so sorry for your loss. If you ever feel like talking about your husband I would love to hear about your life together. My aunt lost her husband a few years ago and misses him so much still.I love to hear things about my uncle. He was my favorite one. When you've been married so long there are so many things to miss. Lots of stories to be shared. So if you need to "talk" feel free here.

So glad you have found us again. I am sorry to hear of your loss and know that it is with bitter sweetness that you let him go into the arms of our Saviour.
