I would ask for prayers, but please not for me. I would ask if you could just send my dad prayers of encouragement in his new journey. He is a remarkable man with a rare and apprieciated life. He, I know, would not want sadness or pity around this occassion but rather an "Atta Boy!" and cheers and laughter for his newest adventure. While my heart aches with knowing how much I will miss him and I am glad to have the privilage to call him dad and know that I have his life as my example.

Kate, the journey has ended on this side for your father. I so understand what you mean about catching yourself thinking of them. It was at least a month before I could shop at Wal-Mart without crying. Whenever I went there was something to pick up something for my dad. Most of the time my shopping list was a combination of things for him and things for us. I was so hard to walk through the store because I kept thinking "I need to get _____ for Daddy" and then it would hurt when I realized I didn't need to after all.

Take comfort in knowing that it hurts because you shared a great bond. God bless you for caring for your dad and loving him through the journey. He'll tell you that himself when you're together again.

God bless -

I am sorry to hear your father passed away too.. Hold on to those memories and do some of the things he enjoyed doing.. You will feel his presence. I lost my Dad 5 years ago and the memories are where I visit with him. I think of him often and somehow I feel he is watching over what I am doing..(((farmgirl hugs)))

Dear Heavenly Father, please take up Kate's dad with gentle hands, Kate needs your Angels to put their arms around her during this time. Kate said her dad is a great guy, so you will enjoy having him around. Amen

*hugs* I'm sorry that he has passed away. I understand how much you miss him. My Grandma Catherine and I did everything together and I miss her terribly still after 6 years. I wish you solace and peace with your grief and that your memories of him burn bright for you. Thank you for telling us. He must have been a remarkable man and he has a very brave and loving daughter in you Kate.

Peace be with you

Just a note, my dad passed on Dec. 11th. I am caught by surprize on occasion, seeing something, or thinking that he might like this or that or think I might call and talk and then I remember he is no longer here in the physical sence. Just to say too that my heart goes out to all who have someone that they miss. HUGS kate

Kate--my thoughts are with you and 'atta boy' for your dad. We walked the same path with my husband last year--knowing he was beginning a new adventure and smiling through the tears. MB

You got it, Kate. "Atta boy!!! Keep on keepin' on!"

Your dad sounds a lot like my own. Six years ago I walked the same path you are walking now, making the path home as easily as possible for our dads. What a wonderful spirit he has. What a wonderful daughter he has. He must be terribly proud of you. Keep us posted as the journey continues.

God bless -
