The power of prayer has worked once again! My dad's blood pressure came down, and he was released from the hospital last night, so we'll all be able to have even more to be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day!

Dad had the cardiac cath, and he had 90%blockage so they inserted stents. They're still trying to get his blood pressure under control, as it's consistently very high. But he looks a lot better than he did on Monday. Thanks so much for all of your prayers!

Here's what I know as of now. They did dialysis today and upped the pull to a 3.0 (he usually has a 2-2.5 pull max) to try and get the fluid out of his lungs. During dialysis, instead of getting relief he started experiencing more shortness of breath. They applied a nitro glycerin patch, lowered the pull on dialysis, and he said he started to feel a bit better once the dialysis was finished.

The cardiac doctor has scheduled him for a cardiac cath tomorrow morning, as they believe in addition to the leakage that he also has blockage in 3 possible areas.

At this point in time I believe they are trying to avoid major surgery due to his risk factors, and are trying to get things under control until they get the lungs cleared and any blockage cleared.

Usually he get dialysis every other day, but they said they're going to do dialysis again tomorrow after the cardiac cath procedure.

Please pray for my dad. He has been on dialysis 3 times a week for 5 or 6 years. Yesterday he and mom were out grocery shopping and dad couldn't breathe, so mom took him to the ER. He has an enlarged heart, and has bleeding from his aorta which is going into his lungs. He's in ICU and will be having tests run today and quite possibly will have to undergo heart surgery.

Oh, Diana, I'm crying now. What a gift - to be able to spend Thanksgiving with your dad at home!!! Truly something for which to be thankful. I'm so happy for you - and your family. Enjoy the day!!!!!! And thanks again for posting the beautiful e-card link. I've been playing it again this morning. (I left the computer on overnight so I wouldn't have to pull it in again today - we have slow-speed internet here, but it was well worth the wait.)

God bless -

Yes, thanks for the update! I hope the doctors are able to fix the problems without major surgery. My grandfather had some heart procedures done through the artery instead of major surgery. *hugs* I know this is a nerve wracking time for you.
