Well, my grandpa Ed just passed away this Saturday. Our family is horrible sad. He was my only grandpa that I knew. He is one of my Idaho grandparents that I have been talking about on this forum ever since my first day here. He taught me to bake bread from scratch. He was a wonderful man who enjoyed life and learning about things. He probably owned over 100 different cooking pans and loves experimenting in the kitchen...it was always delicious! I have many fond memories with him and it hurts to think that he is gone. I love him so much! This is the first person in my family that we lost that I was close to.

He had shoulder surgery a month ago and went home afterwards and had trouble breathing. My grandma took hime back to the hospital where they discovered that he had a resistant form of a staph infection in his lungs. He was in the ICU in the Couer d'lene hospital. I visited him in the hospital two weeks ago and my dad has been going up every weekend. He passed away at 68 years of age. I miss him!

It's in Sandpoint ID in the panhandle. I go there frequently. I think it will be nice to see my grandma.

I'm spending Thanksgiving in Idaho with my grandma and the rest of our family that can make the drive there. It will be nice to spend some time with her and knit with her.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa, Chelsey. It is always hard to lose the ones you are closest too. But you have so many fond memories and lessons learned from him that it will help you through this tough time. And of course you have all of your farmgirl sisters here too.

Lots of hugs~ Melanie

Oh my gosh Chelsey! That is so sad! I know every time you bake bread or create something yummy in the kitchen, you will be remembering him, and in a way keeping that connection with him alive. *hugs* I am so sorry to hear about your family's loss.

68 is way too young to die. I hope the hospital is being held responsible for the staph infection. too much of that going around. Afriend of mine got that MERSA staph and was in the hospital for over a month fighting it---big article in the Seattle Times about this stuff going around.
Sorry I got away from you sweet Grandpa. He sounds like a marvelous man and just remember all the good times--that is what he would want you to do. Take care, MB
