The mother of three of my students was killed in a very tragic accident about 3 miles from my house yesterday afternoon. A seventeen year old boy ran a stop sign and hit the vehical in the drivers side causeing it to roll quite some distance. The mother along with four of her children were all thrown from the vehicle. The boy driving the other car then fled the scene but was arrested about an hour later. As it turns out the mother was also pregnant so there is a strong chance that the boy will be charged with two counts of manslaughter. The other four children were banged up but did survive. Apparently the boy driving the other vehicle was texting on his phone and "thought he had stopped and didn't seen any other cars". This is so horrible. Please pray for these kids that have just lost their mom and for their dad who now has to raise 4 children under the age of 8 on his own.

That is so sad! What a tragic crash. People really need to be more aware of the dangers of multi-tasking when driving. I remember when just turning on the radio while driving was considered dangerous by my parents. There were several bad wrecks in my town from kids going off the road while adjusting the radio dial. I can't even imagine how much more dangerous texting is! Anything that takes your hands off the wheel and eyes off the road is not good!

My son's best friend is 10 and was in the car with his mother and 3 other siblings and a drunk driver hit them killing the mom and oldest daughter. It is very tramatic on the whole family. The dad has since gotten remarried. But I know what this family is going thru. I will keep this family in prayers and as Jami said the teen too. Please keep us updated on the family.
Blessings, Karen

This is so terribly sad. Hoping that they all find peace and healing in time. My thoughts go out to all of them, especially the poor husband and father. This is all around tragic.

Such a sad situation all around. Will pray for this family and the teenager too. He made a mistake of very poor judgment and it's going to be with him the rest of his life. What a blow to the husband and father. My heart aches when I hear a story like that.
