Opening a general thread, asking folks to pray/think good thoughts/whatever works that everyday folks are able to weather the USA's current economic crisis. May we all have enough to eat, keep our loved ones healthy and have a roof over our heads.

May we come out of this crisis with fiscal wisdom and stronger support for each other.

Thanks chickabella for that link. I'm going to look out for those books this fall. Depletion and Abundance: Life on the New Home Front and A Nation of Farmers. This could be some good reading and learning. thank you

Indeed. Pray for the best, and prepare for the worst. If folks are interested in things they can do in the physical world, whether it be preparing for a possible depression/recession, or just hard times in general, please see http://sharonastyk.com/ . She has tons of good information that farmgirls would find useful.

I will join in to. Prayer is strong and in these times we need strength. It is an eye opener for many. Do things for ourselves and helping each other. Being prepared for whatever comes along. How do you do that? Start with every time you go to the store buy even one thing extra. Try to save $$ back, its hard I know with the cost of everything. See if you really need that, scale down. With winter coming on for many of us we have got to be like the ant and not like the grasshoppers. Store your needs in a safe place. Take inventory of your needs.

We each have the power to make it a little easier for ourselves in troubled times.

I think this is why i'm doing my very own Outpost challenge. What if you had to live in the wild, could you survive? Could you live off the land and forage for your food. What if the grid goes down even for a short time, is there enough food in your home to live and keep going into another season? You got means to take care of the freezer of frozen food when it thaws from an outage. I know what its like to live 2 weeks without eletric power with a house that runs on the grid.

Pray for your own personal challenge to meet your family needs and pray that your family and friends are on the same page as your are and work as a team. This is so important There is strenth in numbers.

Doing our home work, check into the Victory Gardens of our grandparents and great grandparents. How they survivied the very hard times. My Mom said it didn't seem bad back then cuz they knew what to do , grew their own food and lots of hard labor.

In todays world it would be hard press if depression hits our nation b/c people don't know what to do. I never want to have my head in the sand and later get kicked in the backside. So learning skills , teaching what we know is something that should be embedded in our hearts and minds to do.

Prayers for our nation and our world. We reap what we sow and the sowing has not been very good in our nation and world for some time as a whole. Good is there along with hope and with that we can over come anything.

You are so right chickabella in your prayers that " May we come out of this crisis with fiscal wisdom and stronger support for each other". (((hugs to you )))

I join with you in that prayer. I pray for deep wisdom for the people making the decisions.
