I just found out one of my best friends has breast cancer. She only found out on Friday. She had a normal mammogram back in may but found a lump a few weeks ago. She had an ultrasound which prompted the doctor to suggest a lumpectomy over a needle biopsy. She went in for a 30 min procedure on Friday. When the doctor made the incision he could tell it was cancerous so they went ahead and removed the entire lump and a lot of surrounding tissue. This was all very sudden. They already scheduled her to start radiation therapy next week. They also removed a lymph node to help determine the severity of the cancer. She will get pathology reports back late this week. Until then we just wait.

They think they caught it early because they also gave her another mammogram on which it showed up. The lump was not visible in the may one.

She has two kids. One in college and one in 8th grade. Her husband is beside himself. We are going over there tomorrow to have brunch with them.

She's really strong and positive and I am certain everything will turn out fine. I just know there are some rough roads are ahead.

If you have a moment please try to remember my friend in your prayers.

Thanks everyone! My husband and I brought brunch to them this morning. We had a really nice visit with them. She seems in good spirits. Her mom is coming in tonight to spend some time and help around the house. Shell find out more tomorrow when the first report comes back.

Healing God, I ask you reach down and put your hands on your lovely daughter. Comfort her in this time of stress and confusion, help her to process all that is happening and know that you are with her always. Bless her family as they go through this with her, let them all feel your loving arms around them-give them peace. You are a holy and loving God and I know that you are working in this situation. Thank you for the blessing of your love!
As you wish!

I'll definitely remember your friend in my prayers. Hopefully they caught it early and that it hasn't spread to the lymph nodes.
