So today I had to go to town and go to the bank. I decided to stop at the new thrift store in town. I went straight to the book section and spied quilting magazines on the floor. I went through 2 stacks and found them all to be quilting magazines and mostly from the last few years- a lot from this year. All different magazines. So I grabbed a box and snagged them all- 80! I got the whole box for $1!!! I calculated- at current price they are worth $500! But back issues are usually more so I got a great deal!!
Then the kids and I were talking about their dad and all we are going through with his recovery and the past. I was telling them that we cannot stand in the way of God. God can work through daddy a whole lot better than we can. As I was saying this I felt the spirit of God just rest upon me.. It was amazing. about 10 minutes later I got a phone call from the produce guy- we never thought we would hear from him again- since he is friends with the people who owned the house and office we just got out of renting. He says "do you like corn" I say yes.. he says "come and get it." So I head out to the ranch. Normally he calls while on the road and tells me to meet him at the ranch- so I knew we were no longer first priority to get food. I get there and I see that I was last priority. the food bank truck was leaving (he pulled over and said he was wondering where I was at). people with very full vehicles were leaving. when I got up to the top of the hill I see that there was not much left- 3 or 4 pallets partially full, a pile of cilantro and parsley on the ground and a trailer full of corn, broken watermelon and the like- destined for the pigs and goats. but the corn was still good so people were boxing up huge amounts. I got 2 small boxes, 5 cases of apricots, 2 cases of honey dew melons, 1 case of sugar snap peas- in those baggies, and 3 cases of sliced apples with caramel sauce (we toss the sauce and the kiddos eat the apples) oh and a few things of cilantro. I thanked him, reminded him to call jeff to build the website we promised him (to thank him for letting us be apart of the food blessings) and left.
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he had no intentions of calling me. God did it. God placed it on his heart to call us. We are going to keep praying- daily that when ever he gets the next delivery that God will place it on his heart to call us.
The kids are eating raw corn on the cob right now and apple slices. yum!
Hope you all had a good day!

Blessings, Debra

Living here on our farm for more than a year has shown me in many ways that God is good. Every day I thank God for all the blessings we have received. Debra, you are teaching your children well, you are showing them how important faith and hope is.

Thank you Lainey. Sadly the 5 cases of apricots were all bad! :-( but I am not disappointed. Produce guy saw me, saw that I was not angry or bitter. I think he will think twice about not calling me next time. the corn is all good and so were the apples. Haven't sliced open a melon yet but will for dinner..

Isn't it wonderful the blessing that happen when we have faith? I had something like that happen this week. I couldn't figure out how to get the $ to get youngest daughter a violin...we just couldn't do the rental thing..there isn't anyone local and the ones who come down from Provo are terrible to deal with...the school only had a cello and she had her heart set on a violin..and she is small so it had to be a 3/4 size. I went by the music shop in the next town last Thursday and there was one her size for $175..very nice and he said he would upgrade the strings and bow and have it ready by Thursday (tomorrow) I took a leap of faith and said okay...not knowing where THAT Money would come from..and prayed all the way home to find a way..and the next day a friend came over to bring me money to help pay for hay this coming winter, since she wants to get a gallon of milk a day from me after Mona calves. I have always just shared milk with her..not charged anything..but she insisted...and guess what..it was more than enough to buy that violin. Cool, huh? Awesome when we are blessed like that. I sure hope the guy continues to call you. What a blessing all that food is. I love raw corn on the cob too....yum!

God can do amazing things when we step aside and let him do his work. I am so happy you and your children were a witness to His generosity!

May He continue to bless you richly.
