We have a neighbor that is a TRUE FARM GIRL, as most of you know I am always wanting to laugh but not tonight. I will try to make this as short as I can, When my friend Gabby, was two years old her dad passed away, her mom was left with 8 children to raise, This family was as poor as poor could be but with help from everyone she did get the family raised. There was no money for school because the older ones had to work to help food on the table. So as to Gabby her nick name, in the past 7 years she has lost her husband , her mother, a brother and sister, tonight we are expecting another brother to die from cancer. Gabby has had the burden of taking care of 4 of them, she works harder than any man, she has a small farm and milks a few cows, I do not know how any woman could have survied what she has been thru, She never ask for anything, I couldnt begin to tell you what a hard life she has had but has never complained. I have a special request to ask of all you farm girls, Do any of you want to send her a card, I just thought it might make her happy to know we are thinking about her. I am not a person to ask for anything but if you want to stick a dollar in the card it would sure help out there, I am telling you this because this girl is desperate. If you dont want to a card would would still be special. If you would email me I will give you her address. After this is over I will have her write you a thank you. Gabby doesnt know I have written this so it will be a big surprise to her and cheer her up Thanks farmgirls Miss Wilma

I was an only child and I always wanted a sister...I even got so desperate one time I said I'd take a brother but to no avail..NADA. But I have found ALL the sisters I could ever want and I have waited a long time but it was worth the wait....you are all incredible human beings!

We are kindred spirits Wilma. I'm glad that you and Sandra like that saying too. It just jumped out at me when I read it and stayed with me. It just so applied to me at that time in my life and it was like one of Oprah's aha moments!

Miss Wilma,
I think we could have been sisters too because I feel the same about that issue too! I tithe now....just not to the church...they all seem to have plenty in my book while people around them are hurting big time! Not all churches I'm sure but I have seen it with my own eyes and when we finally got a preacher that felt differently...they got rid of him right quick! So now I determine where that "tithing money" goes! I was on the finance committee and I know they had plenty to share.

Maryjane I like your saying to, I guess I was raised so poor is why I have feelings for the poor, When I see some one that works so hard having such a hard time I cant hardly stand it. We dont have much but but I believe when we help others we are blessed in ways to.When I say I am not a big tither , I am not but it is because seem like the ones that really need help dont get it. Maybe I shouldnt say this but I cant see paying the preacher a big Salary if they have another high paying job and folks setting in the congretion barely able to pay their bills, so I have made it a point to always help the ones in need. Me and aunt Jane of KY could have been sisters

Mary Jane,
My sentiments exactly! Also, I love your quote at the bottom of your postings. I had never heard that before but it is SO true and I know I have to look at myself and what is going on in my life when I find myself "distressed" in any way because 9 times out of 10 I will realize there is a contradiction going on somewhere in my life and those "contradictions" between what we truly believe, in our heart and soul, and how we live our life can slip in so easily and unnoticed. I have written it down because I think that happens to so many of us and that quote is a great reminder for me to "pay attention"! Thank you Mary Jane

Miss Wilma, no thank you needed here either. Do you have any idea how good it made me feel to actually be able to help someone who so richly deserves it? You know you can donate money to worthy causes, but it is never a personal thing, you don't know who might benefit from it, but in this case to know who you are helping out is just so nice. What a Godsend you are. You have such a good heart and kind nature. It is a a true pleasure to know you.

God Bless,
Mary Jane

Lisa I think we all could cry because you cant come but we will get together again, Any way I took Gabby a cake and some food, For the first time she really seemed down. She said how long can he linger like this, We had just started talking about her cards she had gotten more today she couldnt believe how far they have come she got one from CA and Pa today along with Janice and Jonnie then he started coughing real bad and had to go to him, She loved the handmade cards and said one lady had the pretiest handwriting she had ever seen

Sam, I do have lots of energy but when my iorn level gets low its like you let the air out of a balloon. Gabby, you know in all of the years I have known her I have never heard her complain of pain, or anything else . She just takes life in stride I am telling you if you went there and she had cow poop all over her it wouldnt bother her a bit. She knows she has a job to do so if you dont like the smell so be it. But I think her way of thinking is what has made her strong, yet she is so kind

I couldn't have said it any better than Angie....you take of yourself too Miss Wilma. Sounds to me like you do plenty....I doubt if I could keep up with you OR Gabby.
Blessings and hugz to both of you but please no thank yous....we all did it to help Gabby, not to put another burden on either one of you. Your friendship is plenty for me. I am proud to know women like you.

Miss Wilma
Please don't worry about doing thank you gifts or cards. I think it is wonderful that so many farmgirls are willing to help just for the sake of helping. Please put your efforts into helping your friend through this rough spot. I know I am sufficiently thanked by having the blessing and opportunity to help someone who sounds like she could really use a lift and thats enough for me.

Miss Wilma, you just take all the effort in sending us little thank-yous and just keep helping out your friend who needs you right now. We'll certainly give out a big old yelp when and if we need help ourselves, OK?

Thanks for being such a good friend to her, and please worry no more about any thank you gifts ... you've posted here telling us about yours and her appreciation and that's all we need.

Hugs,

Jo

Same thing for me, Miss Wilma. I'd just love to meet her in person, and let her see that there are still folks out there in this world who are just good folks...no reason...just are.

Can't wait til the 4th of July weekend!!!!

Ditto on the "no thank you note necessary". Just hope to know if card arrived safely - maybe you could let us know Wilma. I'm always nervous about sending cash.
