Wouldn't you know right after I posted about my son being safety conscious while climbing, he had a bad fall today. He was climbing a "traditional" climb, without eye bolts in the rocks, where you pound in the eyes yourself into the cracks in the rocks, when there was more moisture than he anticipated and the safety slipped, sending him in about a twenty foot fall. His foot caught on a ledge on the way down and twisted his ankle pretty badly. Other than that he has one side scraped and cut up. He was one lucky guy, as the other climbers with him said he must have been living right, as it could have been MUCH, MUCH, worse. Please join me in sending a little gratitude to the Lord for watching over my son Cody on this Father's Day!

Sherri, Thank God he is alright. I think boys in particular seem to do everything they can to make us basket cases! I know my grandsons make me cringe all the time. Ah, but actually so does my daredevil granddaughter!I guess we just have to hope and pray.

Yes....I know that "thank you, thank you, thank you" prayer well and also the "help me, help me,help me" one too! I am SO glad to hear Mother and Son are both doing well! I hope you didn't know until after it was all over....I am afraid of heights anyway so Lordy, Lordy....just reading about it made my palms sweat! May the good Lord bless and keep all of you from harm.
Have a great week!

Sherri, I would put this incident in the a file under "Why mothers worry : ) I know I have a large one going: ) That said accidents do happen whether you are on the ground or not. I too have sons who do things that make my stomach churn even though they do them safely. Bottom line children need to do the things that they love. Writer Anne Lamott claims the two best prayers she knows are: "Help me, help me, help me" and "Thank you, thank you, thank you, so I'm sending up a thank you. thank you, thank you! JoAnn
