Grandma is 97 and in the hospital with pneumonia. She's been there since Sunday and the antibiotic they were giving her wasn't working so they're trying a new one as of yesterday, she seems improved today. I would appreciate your prayers for her continuing recovery, she is a little confused at being in a strange place as she has some short-term memory loss. I am praying she recovers quickly and gets back into familiar surroundings at the nursing home where she is less confused and disoriented. I've posted a little bit about her life on my blog. She keeps telling me if she lives to 100 she's going to write a book about her life, and I told her she should start now!

Update: Grandma is doing better on the new antibiotic, the doctor said if it continues to improve she'll probably be released to the nursing home by Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for your prayers, I know they help also. They definitely help me knowing you girls are thinking of grandma.

Brenda, my family will be praying.

WOW! 97! That is incredible. Perhaps you could bring a tape recorder or digital recorder with you and have her tell her stories. The digital recorders are cool. They can be found in electronics and are sometimes called lecture recorders and can run from $60 up to $200. They can record for hours, then you upload into your computer and can burn to a cd.

Before a family reunion several years ago, I purchased an Olympus for $89. We just turned it on and let it record all the conversations. We got some great moments. I've brought it to the hospital on visits to various family members who are now gone. It was so cool to be able to give cds to others.

Getting her to tell her stories can help with the writing of the book and also be irreplaceable audio memories for y'all.

Blessings
Catherine

Prayers for her, Brenda. It can be so disconcerting when they get confused. At 97, pneumonia can be hard for them, but I know she will get better. She's just got to write that book!!!!

I hope your Grandma gets better soon, Brenda. Seems to be a lot of pneumonia going around this year.
