I fell on ice late yesterday afternoon and landed on my left elbow. It hurts like the dickens, and I am not a baby. It has a huge welt on it but its not black and blue. I don't think its broken, praise God! But could use prayers on ths soreness and that theres no other damage done. We don't have insurance, we live in Northern Idaho. If you live in the area you understand that statement. Any way, I would appreciate it so much. Mant Thanks, debi

Well, theres lots it stops too. I would rather sit and have my arm elevated at least I can embroider or sewn down binding. Its my left arm, and I am right handed so theres stuff I can do do, too. "a curse or a blessing." But very grateful is not broken and have no cast. always wear ice cleats in the winter.

Ouch...that sounds painful.

A sling for months?!? Let's figure out how you can really milk this....no chores, no cooking.....just reading, relaxing and of course chatting at MJF!

I found out mondayIi have a severe nerve contusion to the radial nerve and my arm can be in a sling for months. But I can do anything I want as long as my elbow stays in a sling and I don't over do it or aggravate it. In otherwords common sense.

Like over night I can do things that i could not do a few days ago. I am not going to overdo but I am almost back to normal so I figure as long as I don't lift over 5 lbs i am good to go, or stop when i start to get sore. Swelling is very little a couple of very small places. Its not that ichy yellow. Couple more weeks and I am back to normal. Thanks for prayers! Praise God.

I love the winter but not the work that comes along with it anymore. We will be moving for a shorter winter, maybe something to 3 to 4 months verse 6 to 7 months we have now. When my DH was in military we learned that paradise is not always paradise. Theres always good with the bad (for say), its what your willing to put up with. We will miss the wildlife we see on a day basis here and the many awesome views here, picking of the wild berries, etc. Again many thanks for your prayers. I still have aches and pains. I still afraid of nerves damage hidden from swelling, but with all your prayers I will entrust in the Lord. Most of the swelling is gone just whats on the inside, I have a few valleys and mtns left, but GOD will prevail. Its been 8 days andall those blessings made all the difference in the world. thank You. and praise God.

So glad it is not broken! I was looking on your blog at your beautiful 'Winter Wonderland' before I read where you slipped & fell on the ice - makes you look at the 'beauty' a little different! Prayers for a speedy healing!~Dona

It's moving pretty good, Its still sore somewhat about a handwidth above the elbow. It I thought, it was broken I truly would go to the doctor. I do have a little experience. I broke my arm forearm slipping in water at a grogercy store. They could not do anything until the swelling went out down. So basically I am waiting to see. If it is has to be small bone. But again, I don't think its broken. I am resting. I can hand sew if theres no weight involve. My arm on a pillow and the article I am sewing on a tv tray, hanging over some. I don't make a very good patient. I tried reading and I keep trying to pick up the book. So I gave it up. the only thing I have a little bit of trouble is extending my arm up and out across in front of me, and its soreness. thanks for the continous prayers, they do help and I am ver grateful for the blessings. i am getting tired of typing one handed. Later thanks again

Bless your heart, Debi. I'm so sorry. I know it can drive you crazy to just sit, but you need to just sit! Let that arm rest so it can heal. And I'll be praying for you as well!

I will sure keep you in my prayers. I have fallen on ice many times and like Karin said..keep taking the Ibuprofen if it works for you every 6 hours and it will help with the inflamation and pain both. Do get it checked when you can. I found out six months after a big fall that I had chipped a bone in my knee. (was having the other knee exrayed and they did both knees)
Take care!!

Thanks you all very much. Went to church its moving better, I cannot carry my purse in that hand yet, or push a grocgery cart, but my hubby can. Its starting to turn toward the normal bruise colors. I am taking ibuprofen every 6 hours. Since I am right handed I am going to see if I can do some handsewing with my arm on a pillow. (its killing me to still and do nothing.) I have 3 baby quilts, one tablerunner to hand sew the binding. If not, its the idoit box and reading.
Stupid thing to do, I forgot there was ice under the snow. I went down on left elbow and hip. Its blowing snow here today and its 22. thanks again and please continue for a few more days. I am so praising God, its not broken and thats its not as sore as I should of been. Prayers are a wonderful blessing. Many thanks...

Debi,
I do understand the "No Insurance",,,now that I am retired & had to shop around for insurance and ended up buying a "major" policy, so all the other stuff comes outta our pocket.
If you are still hurting really bad, please search out a clinic that might be able to assist you (low cost/no cost) just make sure you don't have more damage to your elbow then you think.
Hugz, & I hope it is just a "booboo" and will heal & you will be back to your old farmgirl self real soon.
