This past summer our small community lost our first one to the Iraqi war. They have recently put his marker up at the cemetery and is beautiful. It stands five feet tall and has a picture Cpl. Josh Moore etched on the front.

But I would like for everyone to think about what has been inscribed on the back and I apologize for not getting this word for word but it reads: There are two forces in this world that have been willing to lay down their life for you; one is Jesus Christ and the other is one is the American soldier.

Please remember our military this Christmas. I have two sons in the Army and I know there are several on here with military connections and always remember what these brave men and women do for us as well as the sacrifices their family members make as well.

Merry Christmas everyone and love to you all.

Yes, thanks. Noone in our family serves, but my husband and I both come from long lines of World War II service, so we have never forgotten soldiers sacrifices. I did just send a package to my good friend Ron's old navy buddy, who reinlisted this year to serve in the army. To me, it was best gift I've given this year, sending that package to Baghdad.

Kathy, Thank you for this topic. I love the saying it is so true. I have all 3 of my boys in the Army. My middle son is on his second tour of Iraq. We were lucky to have him home last year for Christmas. My oldest son is home this year but will most likely miss the next two as he will be in Korea. My youngest in in the guard station here in Wisconsin but looks like he will be active sometime after the 1st of the year. Makes all Holidays hard when a loved one is away risking their life for not only you but for others.

Hats off to all of you wives and husbands who hold down the home fort while your partners are away. To all of you children who wait with pride for your parent to return. To all of you mothers and fathers who support and encourage your children to become military service people. May God bless all of you and keep you safe.

3 Blue Star Mother and Proud of it!
Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon.
Enjoying the road to the simple life :>)

Thank you very much for this! It is easy to often feel forgotten with everything going on in the news. My dh is home this Christmas but has been gone many times in the past and most probably will be in future. We have a heart shaped ornament made out of bdu fabric on our tree to remind us to pray for service members and their families wherever they may be.

Thank you to you and to everyone who serves.

Blessings,

Holly

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Dear Kathy,

I love the inscription!!! My DH is currently stationed in Iraq for a year. Today has been 7 months that he has been gone...our 2nd Christmas apart. It is quite difficult at times as you well know with your own sons being in the Army. I am grateful and honored for your salute to our soldiers and their families. Thank you for remembering and may God Bless you and your family this Christmas season!

Most Sincerely,
Erica:)
