Posted - Mar 14 2016 : 09:26:04 AM I had heard that turmeric is a good herb to use for relieving joint pain. I have a great deal of pain in my fingers. It is so bad that I have trouble opening jars and plastic bags. I did some research and found a recipe for turmeric tea. It is delicious and, I believe, helps me feel more comfortable. Plus, it goes really well with chocolate.
Here is my recipe. It takes a little pre-prep:
Buy a turmeric root no bigger than your longest finger. Slice it up and put the pieces in a quart jar. Meanwhile, heat some water to a heavy boil. I use my tea kettle and wait for it to whistle. Carefully pour the boiled water into the quart jar with the sliced turmeric root. Seal the jar. I use a ring and disc canning jar lid. Set this out on the counter to cool. I do not put this jar in the refrigerator.
Make the tea:
1/2 cup turmeric water 1 tsp almond oil - do not substitute any other oil 1 cup non-diary milk cinnamon, to taste honey, to taste ginger, optional
Put the turmeric water, almond oil, non-diary milk and cinnamon in a small pan. Stir it well. Heat it on a medium heat until it boils at the edges. With a teaspoon, scoop up a bit of honey and put the spoon with the honey in your cup. Pour the heated turmeric tea into the cup and stir. Enjoy . . . with chocolate.
This is a recipe still in development. Let me know how it works out for you. I have gotten very good at preparing this and I wanted to share the health benefits and deliciousness.

Posted - Dec 27 2021 : 5:23:21 PM My husband has a very close friend from India. He has a young son 5 or 6 years old, who loves to come to our property and explore. When he was here this summer, he had added a bit of turmeric to his water bottle. Apparently helps with hydration in hot weather. |

Posted - Jan 31 2017 : 9:38:32 PM I make turmeric milk at night :). Just warm milk (I use whole milk, but any "milk" will work), add turmeric to taste, a bit of coconut oil, and honey.
I put turmeric in everything! I also give it to my dog, a German Shepherd.
Wishing you all pain free days!

Posted - Dec 29 2016 : 4:33:36 PM Hi Marie! Sounds like a great recipe, however, my son is highly allergic to nuts, so I wouldn't even be able to drink it myself as not to make him sick. I have found a wonderful tea at trader Joe's: ginger tumeric tea, it's lovely! Possibly my absolute favorite!

Posted - Dec 09 2016 : 06:05:55 AM I love the tea. It is so soothing. I'm not certain that it eases my joint pain. I just know that it makes me feel so good.

Posted - Mar 18 2016 : 07:19:03 AM Remember to only use almond oil. Any other oil will make it taste very bad.
Here is an alternative recipe:
Stir together 2 tbsp. turmeric and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a simmer and cook until a thick paste is formed. Add 1 cup non-diary milk (I use almond milk.), 1 tsp almond oil, cinnamon and honey to pan. Bring milk to a boil and remove from heat. Stir or whisk it during cooking to combine the ingredients.

Posted - Mar 18 2016 : 03:26:08 AM I may have to try your recipe. I've tried over and over to enjoy it. I just had surgery on my right hand and an injection in my left wrist. Now I have trouble with my knees. A cyst behind the left :( I wish I could drink it a couple times a day, maybe I'll give it another go. Sigh...
