Hey sisters! I need some advice. I'm wanting to learn more about herbs and their uses. I would love to become an herbalist to where I could help family members and some friends. I've been on the website herbalhealer.com and looked at that correspondence course but I was wondering if anyone here knew of a herbal school that I learn from. I'd appreciate any help and advice. Thanks!!

Just stumbled on this topic.
I took the correspondence course with Herbal Healer
academy few years ago learned a lot. Dr McCain is
quite knowledgeable. easy enough course to follow
and informative.
I also got half way through working on a herbalist
certification from Dominion Herbal College out of
Canada. never got to finish the last half. I may
try to do it again. will have to start from the
beginning after so long. It is a more expensive course.
It is much more intensive study than some.
There are several good places to learn from
these days more than used to be I think.

A book that is one of my main reference herbal books
Little Herb Encyclopedia by Jack Ritchason N.D.
wonderful little book! It is the one I always grab
first if I want to check on a herb.

If you want to know some info on using essential oils
this is a good pocket size book.
Quick reference guide for using essential oils
by connie and alan Higley
I use Young Living essential oils for any medicinal uses
they are the best! I know Gary Young he has been devoted
to best quality oils possible.
I also do use NOW essential oils for secondary uses, not quite as expensive.
I love using my difusser putting them into the air.

Hope this helps some. I have been my family's medicine
woman for about 30 years. Still a lot to learn. you never
stop learning!

Have you looked in to Mountain rose Herbs, its an online course pretty thorough but can be pricey

Gina, I have been interested in that as well! What do you think of it? I would do the book course, not the online one.

I asked an herbalist how to study, and she said the main thing was to just DO it and use herbs in your everyday life. So I have several great books and I also enjoy the Learning Herbs site as well as the Herbarium site :) I would still like a course so I can have some more reference material.

Hi RoDonna!
I recently subscribed to Rosemary Gladstar's home study course in herbalism. Please let me know if you end up pursuing studies in this field, maybe we can be study buddies!

Hey RoDonna... there are so many options out there... I think it depends on what you are looking for... I have taken courses via LearningHerbs.com, via 7Song (http://7song.com/), and via Rosemary Gladstar (http://www.sagemountain.com/). I am hoping to get my certification EVENTUALLY via Vintage Remedies - https://vintageremedies.com/
