Has anyone read or does anyone own a copy of "The Book of Herbal Wisdom: Using Plants as Medicine," by Michael Wood? I ran across it while perusing Amazon.com, and I was wondering if it's a worthwhile resource or not. I'd like to learn more about herbal healing, and this seemed to be a good place to start.

What are the resources that you all use and like?

Jo - I haven't purchased either the "Herbal Wisdom" book or any of Rosemary Gladstar's books, but reading the reviews, I think we'd be happy with either - they both sound like good reference books. Great idea about the present! I may be doing a VERY similar thing, myself!!!

Gee, Libbie -- no takers.

I'm wondering if you did buy this book or check it out at a library? That one, or the Rosemary Gladstar one that Kathy has recommended? I may buy one of them to let DH wrap and put under the tree for his favorite farmgirl!

I'd like to hear the answer(s) too. I share Libbie's interests here.

EnchantedWoodsGirl posted earlier this summer about a great book/author for herbal healing as well.

Excerpt:
"If you are looking for a great book on herbs and making herbal products, get yourself a book by Rosemary Gladstar - she is a wonderful herbalist.
You can make individual herb tinctures and them mix them into specific mixtures. Always be sure that the plant you are using has not been sprayed with any chemicals and be sure you know for certain the identity of the plant.
You may also want to look into Bach Remedies which are made from flower essences - Rescue Remedy is excellent to have on hand for many uses.
The world of herbs is an exciting one and you can never learn too much! There is just something so sacred about working with plants you have grown - I find it to be very spiritual and in fact, I recommend that you commune with the plant as you work with it.
Blessed Be!
