I am looking for a recipe to make an organic herbal pollen barrier salve, to prevent inhaling pollen. I can buy it, but would like to make some myself. Has anyone made this before? I can't seem to find a recipe in salve handbooks or on the internet.

If it is just those three ingredients.... I would make it by measuring out the oil in the quantity you want... say 1/4 C. Heat it in a double boiler until warm. Add beeswax a little at the time until you get the consistency you want. It won't take very much! After melting the wax in, I dip a metal spoon in the oil/wax and pop it in the freezer for a couple of minutes and check the thickness until I get it where I want it. After you get the right consistency. Take it off the heat. Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Pour into your container and let it harden at room temperature.

Does that help?

sorry, I forgot about this

It's like the consistency of vick's vapo-rub. Here's the ingredients: Sunflower Oil Helianthus Annuus, Beeswax Cera Abla, Lavender Essential Oil Lavandula Angustifolia. That's it.

Do you think you could whip up a recipe so I could make it myself? It's expensive and comes in a 5 ml container. Very small.

Is it the consistency of a vick's vapor rub?

Angie,
The one I buy is made from organic ingredients, but is costly. It's rubbed under the base of your nose. It's not put anywhere around your mouth (but works to help prevent it going in the nose). I'll have to check the ingredients but it does have lavender essential oil in it.

I make a lot of salves and herbal medicines, but I have not heard of this one. I am having a hard time understanding how it would work as you can inhale pollen through both your mouth and nose...where you would put the salve? Super curious about it now!! =)
