Yesterday, we stopped in at a new store (homeopathic). We explained to the owner my situation with my ear, and that I tried to order garlic oil drops, and they were out for another 4 weeks. I made my own, but they were not working. I still feel pressure in my left side of my face etc.

She sent us home with a mix of oils for our immune system. Although I did not buy the diffuser, I did heat a few drops in a pan of water. It will help the entire household.

She did have the garlic oil ear drops. I used them yesterday, and they smell much, much stronger than what I made, and had more ingredients. I will update you all on how well it helps.

I also found out about an herbal oil mix for allergies. She said her brother swears by it, and only inhales it when he needs to. I guess he used to have to get shots and everything and now only uses this mix. I plan to go back and buy some of that too. I'll update if that helps us here too.

The farmers were out plowing yesterday, even though it's winter here, and we are all congested and I have swollen eyes. I'll probably be visiting her store much sooner.

These oils are not cheap, but last a looooong time.

Just wanted to share. I'll update my progress soon. The kids are already complaining about the immune oils I am simmering, but we'll see if any of us are sick too. Many of the kids are complaining of congestion, fatigue, stuffy or runny nose etc.

Have your ears opened yet? I battled with mine for three years due to Eczema. I finally did what the ear doctor said and they cleared up!

I used ear wax removal drops for 5 days twice a day 7-10 drops. I bought the alcohol free brand with aloe and vitamin E. Then he prescribed an RX called Lotrinmin and that cleared them both up.

Now, when I start to tell the ear is building back up I use the ear wax removal drops for a few days and that keeps them from blocking up.

I was going nuts with my ears blocked for three years off and on!!! I know how you feel!!! I hope you get the solution soon!

Please be careful with Peppermint or mint EO as they can cause high blood pressure. Took months to find out why my blood pressure was high then normal then high ect... I have even a hard time inhaling peppermint. Please be careful with all EOs they can be very helpful in small amounts but can also very dangerous when over used. The same with herbs. They are very helpful but can be as dangerous as Rx's when miss used.

There's been some research lately that the appendix and maybe tonsils (?) harbor good bugs/bacteria/flora in them, and when your body needs to repopulate itself with those good bugs after a round of sickness, those organs let loose so your body can do it's thing. Our bodies are amazing. :D

Kristina, What brand of oils are you using? To test an essential oil to make sure no chemicals or synthetic are in them just drop a drop of oil on a piece of white paper let dry and if they do not leave a mark they are pure not mixed. Unfortunately there is no labeling laws for oils and most are only for fragrance or aroma. A true oil has medicinal properties. Here is a really cool site that you can use for searching. If you are using YL Oils it might be less costly to open your own wholesale account and save yourself 24%. Also a very neat book is "Aromatherapy for Dummies" by Kathy Keville, she is the head of the American Herb Association. I have been very lucky to have taken class with her. She also has many other books including one on herbs and women health which I have used many of her recipes and they have all worked. OILS are the best....

Fwiw, it can take 2-3 weeks after an ear infection for your hearing to be back to your 100% normal. I had a double ear infection a few years back (stress, extremely compromised immune system, the double ear infection was actually the least of my worries). Refused antibiotics because I didn't feel they'd actually help me, and ear infections tend to resolve themselves on their own.

If it helps any, last year I used a combo of starting to use more local (like within 100 miles) honey in more canning/baking and a tablespoon every few days, we started getting raw milk (took me a few years to track down!), and I use a few Boiron things. Sabadil, histaminium hydrochloricum and galphimia glauca. Sure, they're not things I can find in my yard, but I'll take those homeopathic deals over all the generic Sudafed I've had to take over the last many years - fewer side affects to boot, yay!

And those essential oils... fun stuff. I've been using a homemade thieves oil blend this year, and absolutely love it. Love it. :D

Thanks.
I still need to go buy that mix for my allergies. Dh and I woke up with swollen eyes over the weekend (when it was in the 80's).

I don't know if any of this info will help you in the future but I make an ear drop from garlic, olive oil and mullein flowers. I have used it on my kids, mother and sister-in-law all with good results. It is Roasemary Gladstar's recipe. Also, drops of rubbing alcohol will dry up water in the ears. Finally, when my ears are clogged I apply Vick's Vapo Rub behind my ear and down my neck -seems to help.

Although I did have to go back for a 3rd round of antibiotics, I continued to use the peppermint oil behind my ear, and steam the immune oils over the wood stove. I am definitely going back to buy the allergy oil mix she offers too.

Oh, and my ear is completely normal now.

One thing for allergies is to use honey where you live. It helps...Tulsi tea is great for everything. You can get the seeds and plants on-line. It makes a good tea. and put a little lemon in it. See if you can find someone that does Cranial Sacral work. You can find that on-line also...It works. And accupuncture (sp)....

My husbands eyes are always blurry, especially when he works outside. Is there any kind of herb that would help? These posts are fascinating.
Thanks to all for the information already posted.

You can use the EOs to mix your own household cleaners. The one's I mix work exceptionally well and the EOs have natural anti-cootie properties.

We are not totally "out of the woods" yet. Dh and I both have sinus issues (we hope it's not an infection). My ear continues to get better, but not totally back to normal yet.

I am trying very hard to keep our menu healthy, and to keep our food preservative/chemical free. This is hard, because even fish from the store has it in it. One type of fresh caught salmon made my throat swell up, doubled my congestion, started up a bad cough etc. My doctor told me to try another fish (brought in by another store etc). We don't have a fishmonger here (boo hoo that). I'm down to my last 2 chickens in the freezer. This spring we plan to double our meat chickens. I can't wait to have my own milk again (goat or cow). I'm even watching the use of too many cleaners too. Even those, such as Lysol, can cause us irritation.

Part of our immune system building, is building on our family and marriage too. Stress really wore my immune system down this year.

I did have peppermint oil. Something is working, because when I woke up, I could hear perfectly normal from that ear. However, once I got up, I felt the fluid shift and clogged my hearing again. It was so nice to hear! Praise God! I am continuing with the oils and pray it will all be back to normal in a few days. Boy, I cannot wait.

The lotion might work well also, I've never tried that (hadn't thought of it actually) I get my Tei Fu from Nature's Sunshine, I do not know if any other company makes it (or something comparable) or if it is a specific Nature's Sunshine formula, but I've never seen it anywhere else. Using EOs is AWESOME!!!! I use them for tons of stuff around the house--humans, animals, cleaning, etc.

Thank you Rachel! I know the oil that we are simmering is helping everyone in the house. One dd stopped sneezing and is not stuffed up anymore. One dd and myself, have runny noses, vs. sinus pressure. I can't wait for my ear to clear. I'll have to call and see if the store has the oil you mentioned. I have peppermint (organic) lotion, but not oil.

You know....I may have some essential oil of peppermint, now that I think about it. I'll have to take a look. Thanks.

If you put a couple of drops of oil behind your ear going down your neck and along your lower jaw and tap it gently several times, it really helps move fluid. I generally will use Tei Fu or if I don't have that I use peppermint/eucalyptus oil.

This new store here also sells tea leaves. I plan on going back in to talk to her more about other stuff. I can tell things are "changing" with using these oils, but it will be a few more days to see results. I can't wait to feel better.

Kristina,
I hope that the oils help all of you. It certainly cant hurt to try them!
I recently read an article about Hibiscus Tea helping to lower blood pressure. I cut it out for my MIL who sufferes severely with her high blood pressure and am trying to locate hibiscus tea in the next few days for her to try, although she is leery b/c she is on so many medications.
