I am having a creative inspiration to make a tomato scented kitchen soap. Has anybody used or smelled tomato leaf oil? I want to use it in a cold process soap.

Thanks!

My husband loves the scent of tomato leaves. I don't know about the oil, but I do remember reading a recipe for tomato scented perfume somewhere ... I need to go find that one, my tomato plants are beginning to grow :).
And if you ever do have tomato leaf scented soap to sell, please let me know :) !
Blessings,
Catherine

Burt's Bees makes a soap that is scented with tomatoes. The acid from the tomatoes is supposed to be good for skin with acne. I love it!

Do you know of the fragrance oil finder? It's a great resource! I use it a lot when I need to find a specific scent:

but to answer your question, mine came from From Nature With Love. I also have some lovely raspberry-tomato leaf FO from Aroma Haven & Rustic Escentials. HTL!

Catherine...where have you found some? I bought some, but I got it and it smells perfumey, not tomato-y.

I have not seen tomato leaf essential oil, but synthetic versions are readily available. I love it as is or blended with lime in a gardener's soap, with cornmeal added for scrubbing action.

I would not use tomato leaves, per se.....all of that plant but the fruit is poisonous. (Tomatoes used to be called "Love Apples", in regards to the folk belief that people who wanted to commit suicide would eat them.)

Too much thread, so little time!

I have never heard of thats most likely a new one...invented by you.
Be grateful youre the creative type and get going on that...Id buy it! You most likely have to juice the leaves or buy an oil press to get it yourself...let me as soon as its ready!!!
Good luck and Best Wishes
