Hello all, I am a "farmgirl at heart" from Phoenix.
I am an avid tea drinker. I usually get my loose leave tea from Teavana, but they can be very expensive. Does anyone know any good online tea retailers?
I know tea can be used for a lot of different ailments. I know peppermint tea is great for the stomach and that white teas have a lot of antioxidents in them.
So the question is to all of you farmgirls: What else can tea be used for? Headaches? Colds? I would love to hear your ideas/experiances! :) :)

We buy quite a bit of tea from Mountain Rose Herbs. Everything is always great. Anyone who isn't drinking herbal tea should really give it a try. I never knew what I was missing!

I actually got tea from Teavana that smelled Ah-mazing! I used some of it in handmade rice bags that I gave out last Christmas.

One last thing - if you check out my website, you'll see I have very little herbal tea. I lack the knowledge to feel comfortable selling too many herbal blends - I have a great respect for herbs but know so little. Rose Mountain Herbs are amazing.

Hi all - just found this thread. Please check out my website listed below.
I started my business in 2007 and its been slow going, but I've learned a lot and things are getting much better. My main focus is buying from smaller vendors that have mostly organic and fair trade tea. Not all my tea is organic - but many are organic by European standards but they have not gone through the certification for the US (its a very arduous and expensive process). I blend a couple breakfast blends that are amazing (no modesty here). I agree with the person who wrote about Darjeeling tea - they are my favorites. I've met a couple owners of organic tea estates in Darjeeling and I was so excited... I felt like a groupie at a rock concert! It was wonderful. I think Teavana has some good tea -but they are way over priced.
I am currently selling my tea in a small, local coffee shop, a small antique shop, and shop/tearoom - and online. The tearoom should be open w/in a month (or so - prayers are appreciated). Its called Lettie Mae's in Morris, IL and its a wonderful little shop. The owners and I have combined energy to get this up and going. Its been another long haul - with the owner's husband doing all the plumbing/carpentry work - but we're coming down the homestretch.
Any hoo, I LOVE tea and it all started with my grandmother. She lived with us when I was little and her parents were from France - so she had a European flair (read - eccentric). We always had afternoon tea - nothing fancy - but I still have fond memories of those times. Although, I felt like such a country bumpkin the first time I saw a teabag... We only used loose leaf tea and I really thought I was missing out on something. (Isn't it amazing how advertiser can make us feel inadequate - especially children???)
So I hope you'll check out my website - it needs an update but lists the tea I have and some info. I really don't get a lot of "hits" on it - so I have a tendency to let it get stale (unlike my tea). And I'm small potatoes compared to adagio - I can't afford to do free shipping - but my prices are good and my tea is phenomenal (I gave some to Mary Jane and Meg last weekend when I met them at the Carson, Pirie, Scotts - I was so excited).

I think Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) will grow anywhere. Perhaps you could grow it in Arizona but I wouldn't swear to it. It spreads easily (some might say too easily!) and is hardy. Its leaves make a lovely relaxing tea, made even nicer with a bit of local honey. It's always best to grow your own, so you know what you've got. You don't need anything fancy for steeping the leaves. Just put about a quarter cup of crushed leaves in a saucepan of almost (but not yet) boiling water, cover and let it sit still fpr 5 minutes or so before pouring it through a strainer into your cup. Save the wet leaves for composting.

I will second Rose Mountain Herbs, you can't go wrong with them. I also have gotten teas I like in bulk at San Francisco Herb Co. and the Tea Table, both are online. The tea table has the most wonderful smokey earl grey, I am addicted to it!! They have a great selection of flavored rooibus as well, like their chocolate mint. Another fave of mine is the green coconut from TeaGschwendner. Yummo!

Here's for Farmgirls like me who love a black tea with chocolate and berry notes and let me tell you that this tea is soooooooooo delicious and delightful!
It's called CHOCOLATE BERRY EARL GREY tea and it comes in tea pyramid bags and it's really great in the morning instead of your coffee.
This tea includes black tea leaves, carob, cocoa shells, raspberries, and natural bergamot flavor to give a very smooth and comforting tea. There's no harshness to be found here. I steep this tea for 4 minutes.
It's an ARCHER FARMS Tea....... which of course is perfect for Farmgirls.... and I found it at my local TARGET store!

I recently visited my favorite herb lady and purchased some tea from her called 'I Love Lemon'. It contains: Lemon Balm, Lemon Verbena, Lemon Peel and Stevia. I can't wait to try it. Got to find a steeper though.

Nice! Japanese Teas! I think I will have to check that out. I don't think I have ever have had a japanese tea.
Teavana carries a great white earl grey that is spectacular with lavendar.

I love drinking tea because it is good for you and me and our Farmgirl Sisters here too.
Teas are rich in anti-oxidants which help combat free radicals in our bodies which do a lot of harm to our cells.

Wow! Thanks for all the great replies! I will have to try the dandelion thing sometime, but I live in phoenix and don't have an abundance of those that I can get, but I think I could plant them. And thanks for all the web sites and companies. I will definitely check them out!

I drink chammomile and passionflower teas together for stress. I drink raspberry leaf tea as a female tonic the week before my period.

Hi Casey. Welcome from Ga. I just went out in the backyard to hang clothes and picked a handfull of dandelion flowers to make some tea. I have hears it's good for allergies, which I have a lot of right now. I boil the flowers for a few minutes then simmer a few more. Then strain and add local honey. It's really good. I also picked a bunch of wild peppermint last fall and dried it for tea. Also rose hips. They are the best source of vitamin c you can get. So a good boost for the immune system and FREE!
I can't think of any others at the moment. But I want to check back to see what others have to say. I am always interested in ore natural things.
