Posted - Sep 23 2010 : 9:04:34 PM I take elderberry syrup, raw vitamin C, and Umcka. You can get all 3 at your local health food store. I've been taking these for a long time and haven't hardly gotten sick at all and if I do I recover really fast. Kristin, that is so cool!! I wish we had an elderberry bush. Hugs, Hannah

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!! |

Posted - Sep 23 2010 : 8:09:46 PM I found some elderberry bushes growing out back behind my house. I was so excited. I made 3 whole cups of syrup with honey. I have been taking a teaspoon every day. I do not want to get sick. I usually get a horrible sore throat every year. I hope I don't this year. I can also get the dried berries at Greenlife to make more when this runs out. It's so much cheaper than buying the syrup already made.
Terri, don't you just love the BHS? I get her newsletter every week. She just had a baby girl last month. They don't live too far from me in Tn.

Posted - Sep 23 2010 : 4:38:48 PM I have been sick this past week. So far the best thing that has helped me is lots and lots of hot tea, honey in the tea for my throat and the best I felt all week was when I made homemade chicken and veg soup. That was a big hit so I am making a big pot of it to night again.

Posted - Sep 23 2010 : 2:57:23 PM I use a product called "WELLNESS HERBAL RESISTANCE LIQUID" BY Source Naturals. I take it at the VERY FIRST SIGN of any cold, flu, running nose, sore throat... Even though I start to feel better very soon I continue to take it for about 2 weeks as an immune builder and I hardly ever get sick. I usually only have to do this one time in early winter and I have protection through the flu season. There are 2 formulas one with and one without alcohol, I like the alcohol formula better-it just seems to work better for me.

Posted - Sep 23 2010 : 2:15:08 PM Horehound was used for years in helping with congestion in the chest from colds. And a cough soother. It's bitter as all get-out but I've had decent results with it. |

Posted - Sep 18 2010 : 4:47:10 PM Elderberry syrup is taken by some, about a tablespoon a day, as a preventive during flu season. If you do start to feel a cold or the flu coming on, you can take a few tbsps a day. I do this and I do think it helps. I work retail and it's amazing how many folk will just cough and sneeze on you, sigh.

Posted - Sep 17 2010 : 09:33:22 AM I haven't had a "cold" in years until recently and I took Vitamin C @ least 2000 mg twice the first day, I ate only chicken noodle soup (homemade is best, but who feels like cooking when sick?) drank pure water rather than juices because juices can be too much sugar, and I absolutely believe in probiotics...they help to maintain the balance of good/bad bacteria in the "gut"/intestinal tract, so I doubled the dose and was better late the second day. Read more about how probiotics can help by researching Brenda Watson's website, http://www.renewlife.com/learning-center/digestive-care-articles/probiotics-and-intestinal-health/a-probiotcs-dietary-supplement-can-help-boost-immunity or from Doug Kauffman "Know the Cause "http://www.knowthecause.com/

Posted - Sep 15 2010 : 12:40:16 PM I started taking magnesium. That is supposed to help support your ammune system (don't qoute me on that). And of course good ol' vitamin C. The vitamin D3 has helped me also. So far so good. Tina Kay

Posted - Sep 15 2010 : 11:48:29 AM I have five kids so we have a lot of exposure to germs. When they get sick I make sure I take a daily D3 vitamin and that seems to really help me. If I actually catch a bug I drink echinacea tea.
