Hey all. I have been reading about the benefits of red clover blossoms and red raspberry leaves for fertility and hormone balance/overall good health for women and in some instances animals. Has anyone used these before for those reasons? Did they work? And did you buy in bulk or capsule form? Thanks for any info!

We picked a whole lot of Red Clover for my flashes..I have not drank a whole lot of it since the picking..when I did drink it I did not drink it long enough to know if it would work. Hence forth the flashes cont.. As I have tried many things to help lessen them but to no avail they wont let up. Going on 4 years now. We have tons of Raspberry plants here..will pick next year..maybe..

Rasbperry Leaves -
I have a patch of mixed raspberries - black, red and golden. The majority being red and those were started from birds and seeds. Cultivated but wild :-) I was told to harest the leaves until they started to yellow and look ragged. Like fruits and vegetables you want the best for your harvest.

What is natural progesterone. Is that a prescribed hormone?
Wild Yam cream is what I used last summer and it sent me for a loop and a half. I had heard so many good things but WOW! I stopped it after a few months. For me...I can honestly say that the red raspberry leaf tea has worked like a charm and NO side affects. But everybody is different :-)

I have heard the same thing about red raspberry and red clover leaves. I mix them in a teapot and make an infusion. Hopefully it will help with fertility. One supplies natural progesterone and one supplies natural estrogen (I can't remember which is which). Susun Weed has some good articles on it, though. Google her name, she has her own website with resources.
Good luck to you.

Is there a particular time of year when the leaves should be picked or can I just go willy nilly leaf pickin?

Are the red raspberry leaves from the wild raspberry bushes? If so, I can pick the mother lode. My son has picked them since he was a young man and brewed a tea. If this is what you are talking about I would like to try it.

I started drinking raspberry tea for a diuretic. It works. I do feel better since I have been drinking it. At least 2 cups a day for me.

To the question about black raspberry being the same? No, it is not. Red raspberry is a girls best friend through all of the ages and stages of her life. It is a very basic foundation herb for women.

I drank red raspberry leaf tea religiously during my 3rd trimester. I really believed it helped my labor go quickly. I recovered in a matter of days! I now drink it the week before my period and I've seen a big difference. Of course my pregnancy could have played a huge part in that as well.

Does it have to be red raspberry leaves or can you use black raspberry leaves as well?

Hi all,
I agree and would say its personally worth it to try it for any one that has monthly problems. My dd had painful periods as well she couldn't even get out of bed most days, & talk about crabby, well I drink cloverbud tea and have dried raspberry leaf on hand also, so I made her some a few nights in a row. We all noticed a difference the first day and so what we do now is brew it up a few days before everything starts and she can handle it so much easier :)0 alittle catmint tea helps keep things calm too yes Zen is a gentle"cat" about sharing with us girls, long as he gets a few licks in. I mix them all together sometime and sometimes make single brews, if any one finds the raspberry too tart just add a little honey !

The above link has a little information on drinking red raspberry leaf 'tea'. I read about it last month and since I have a fair sized patch in my yard I thought I would give it a try. I am 44 and starting the ole journey and have ALWAYS had very painful periods. I can say that after drinking about 3 cups a day for about a week and a half this last period was all but pain-free. The discomfort was there but not the pain. I usually take ibuprofen like it is candy and I maybe took 6 pills all week. The brew is very mild and fruity in flavor. My husband tried it just to make sure I was not fibbing on the fruity taste...he agreed. We had to laugh that you can get a pound of it at the place listed above for $7.00. I have dried (dehydrator) less than a 1/4 of a pound but that equals about 50 racks (cookie sheet size) of leaves and hours of cutting!!! I will buy this winter/spring after my stash is gone but will probably start drying as the leaves appear in early summer. I think the effort is worth it. I of course do not know if last month was a fluke but I truly "felt" different which has to be a good thing. I have contemplated surgery to fix my problem but just have not been able to bring myself to go under again. I hope that this helps you ladies a little bit. I have read alot about mid-wives past/present prescribing this for women before/during/after pregnecy and the results speak for themselves. There is a fair bit of info on the web on the the red raspberry tea so look into it for yourselves and see if it sound right for you. There are also a lot of knowledgeable (herbal-wise) women on here that maybe could give some first hand information on using/prescribing it...will wait and see if they comment here. I would be interested in your thoughts if you give the red reaspberry leaves a try.
