My husband uses dandruff shampoo for an eczema/psoriasis condition on his scalp, but I'd like to find a natural cure. The shampoo just controls the itching, but if he runs out of shampoo he goes nuts with itching. I'd like to find something that might actually cure the problem.

Any ideas??

I just put a few tablespoons into a standard bottle. No specific measurements. It works great on the dogs around flea season too.

I just read that if you use Vitamin E oil on the scalp then comb it with a fine tooth comb, then wash. That will clear it up. Just keep reaplying the oil daily until it clears up and then probably everytime you wash.

I've had that problem, I found the dandruff/eczema stuff cleared up when I switched to a "natural" shampoo that is minimal on the commercial additives and uses essential oils to scent rather than synthetic fragrances. I had used all those "dandruff" shampoos too and it just made the condition worse I found. Also not washing my hair every day but switching to every second day seemed to help. I don't know if he can do that depending on how much he sweats during the day.

Also the tip up there about Tea Tree and peppermint oils is good. Tea Tree is anti fungal/bacterial so that will take care of any infection that he may have.

He also might want to try to up his internal oils by taking fish oil supplements and of course driking plenty of good old water.

one of the best things for dry scalp or dandruff type problems is to use a pine tar soap as shampoo. I have made my own, but usually purchase Grandpa's Pine Tar soap. I have recommended it for many of the people that come to me for consultation and have found good results

I agree with adding tea tree oil but would also add one drop of peppermint essential oil to each "serving" of shampoo. This will cool that itch. You can just put a drop in your hand and then add shampoo. A little peppermint goes a long way but it is so good for that itch. The tea tree is healing.

Baby shampoo with a couple tablespoons of tea tree oil. Also massage tea tree oil cut with some other oil into the scalp. It treats dryness and also fungal infections which may be overlying his psoriasis/eczema. Dont get it in the eye though. It will really hurt and could damage his eyes.
