I have chronic dandruff and I'd like to find some kind of rinse I could use with regular shampoo so I don't have to get the chemical shampoos. Any suggestions?

The baking soda idea is good for shampooing, but vinegar is really the only thing that will balance the pH of your scalp, which is where the problem of dandruff begins. Mix 1:1 ratio of vinegar and warm water for a rinse and leave it in your hair. Try to get the scalp more than the hair area, ya know what I mean?

From my doctor I got a prescription that you leave on your scalp for several hours, like overnight, with a shower cap on. The base of it is peanut oil! It has helped me.

I tried a rinse of chamomile tea and white vinegar, after washing with Dr. Bonner's natural soap. I could notice a difference right away. My scalp didn't feel as tight and the flakes have been much better. The vinegar smell wasn't TOO bad, :-)

Baking soda! My daughter had it for a long time, I took her to the dr and used every thing they rxed. Nothing worked. I tried baking soda (no more poo! We do NOT use shampoo at all!). And right away the dandruff was gone and never came back!

Kimberly Ann,
Something else to try is Vitamin E oil. Rub it on your scalp (Not necessary to soak your hair) Once scalp is well saturated, let sit on your hair for 10 minutes. Comb hair with fine tooth comb. Then wash your hair well to get all of the oil out and brush well. It is great for getting rid of dandruff and unclogging your pores. ;)

I plan to try this too....I am always fighting dandruff and since my hair is really dark it shows more than I like.

I put three tbsps of tea tree oil into a regular bottle of shampoo. It really helps. (no not get it in your eyes though.)
