My dad is going thru radiation for cancer in his head. His mouth is full of burns and he is in a lot of pain. Can anyone offer me a possible natural treatment?

I forgot to mention that when my dad went through it the doctors also gave him a bottle of solution to swish around in his mouth that would help numb it when the pain was really bad. Has your dad been offered this?

My best friend is going through cancer treatment. It isnt natural but I know her doctor perscribed her with an antibiotic of some sort and gave her some special kind of toothpaste to help with this.

Yes, all I can think of is try swishing aloe vera juice around the mouth several times a day. My dad was treated for oral cancer three years ago and also had extremely painful burns in his mouth and throat. Nothing helped a whole lot but easing the pain a bit is better than none at all. I hope they heal soon.

There is an over the counter product for this purpose and it has an aloe base. I was told you could buy it at Wal Greens and many drug stores. I cannot remember right now what it was called but if you asked the pharmacist he might know. They use it at M D Anderson in Houston. But failing that I would try aloe juice and just swish it in there like real often. So the injured tissue is bathed in Aloe. I have several clients who have been treated for oral cancer and I know this is so very painful.

I am so sorry he is going through this. Mouth sores a awful. Try painting them with milk of mag. I was told to try this for a burn from hot liquids years ago and it did help. Works for canker sores and just plain owwies too. For me anyway. it can't hurt to try. If that doesn't work call and ask his Dr. or at the treatment place next trip in.

My sincerest sympathies Lorie for your Dad and your family.
I can't come up with a natural treatment, but what did come to mind was Orajel that they use for teething babies. Could he maybe just rinse his mouth with a little of it diluted in warm water to at least give him some temporary relief?
You are in my thoughts...
