Does anyone have a really good way to break-up and drain out sinus congestion?

What helps me:

1. massaging the sinus cavity/pressure points
(see link: http://www.mind-energy.net/archives/90-Get-rid-of-stuffed-or-running-nose-without-drugs.html)
2. saline washes
3. drinking hot herbal tea (steam)
4. Peppermint oil (breathe it in)
5. drinking ice water
6. eat 2 tsp. local honey daily

My favorite is chips and salsa. If you don't have tortilla chips then anything with salsa on it. The heat of the salsa always gets my sinus' draining and I'd heard there were some other benefits from the tomato etc I just don't remember the details right now.

Doing daily infusions (not teas) of mullein and nettle before and during the onset of allergies can be VERY helpful, I have worked with people who have eliminated or greatly reduced their allergy symptoms this way.

For more immediate relief, use a tincture or tea of ambrosia spp (better known as ragweed, who's pollen is the source of many people's allergies.

To make an infusion:
place one oz of herb in a quart jar and fill to brim with boiling water, cover and let steep several hours to overnight. Strain (with the mullein, strain through cheesecloth to avoid irritating hairs), drink warm or cold with honey, stevia or your favorite sweetner. I prefer my nettle infusions with some salt and lemon juice or even a very small amount of miso.

I was told that if you take a spoonful of honey produced from your area it will help build up a resistant to the causes of allergies. I have yet to try it though.

I also use saline & water but I use a baby syringe to "flush". Put 1/4 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm (not hot or cold) H20, stir, squeeze the bulb stringe in the H20 to draw it up into it, Put your head over the sink kind of sideways and hold your breath, squeeze the syringe gently into one nostril and it will automatically come out the other nostril. It takes a little practice but it feels good, loosens congestion & gets rid of alot of "junk". Good luck. Michele

I use saline to irrigate the nose,it keeps it moist and helps with drainage. You can buy the premade kind or use warm water and salt and inhale through the nose.It feels like the sea water going up your nose at the beach but it does wonders.

Failproof method: Go to your nearest Sushi restaurant, order California rolls (or your favorite sushi... doesn't matter which), smear with tons of Wasabi. Chew, swallow, repeat.

Works every time.

If you don't like sushi, try hotdogs or bratwurst with horseradish. That works pretty well, too.

I put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in a cup of boiling water; place a towel over your head and the cup to create a "towel tent" and inhale. BE SURE TO CLOSE YOUR EYES!!!!! It really helps me.
Good luck and close your eyes!
