I have tried growing herbs several times, but my plants are always weak and puny and never survive long. Can anyone offer advice as to what I am doing wrong and how I can have a nice, indoor herb garden? I'd love to have fresh parsley, oregano, cilantro, and even catnip (for my cat)easily accessible indoors. Thanks!

They taste really good! She uses organic seeds instead of the ones the light comes with.

My aunt had the same problem, and then someone got her this for Christmas:

Now she has herbs to spare!

Overwatering could be the problem, but I think it's more than just that. Is there something that should be added to the soil to make nice, strong, green plants? I'll check out the grow light, too, but I'm awaiting any replies as to how the flavor can be improved in answer to Dawn's question.

I have tried herbs in the house too and have had bad luck. While they do just fine under the grow lights in my basement, they don't seem to have any taste. Any ideas on how I can improve their flavor?

Sounds like you may need a grow light. Be careful of overwatering seedlings, they damp off really easily. Try misting them instead.
