Posted - Jan 24 2009 : 9:37:31 PM I am diabetic, and my skin is really dry. I have only been able to use gold bond. Anything else I have tried hasn't worked. I also drink a lot of water too. That helps!
I am almost paranoid about my feet, so they are keep warm, dry (as in not wet/damp) and well cared for. I also either wear slippers or shoes 99% of the time.
I use gold bond everyday on them. I also gently slough off dead skin with one of those pumice SPONGES, not to be confused with a pumice stone.
If they are severely dry due to weather etc, I coat my feet with lotion, dig out my parrafin wax thingy to dip my feet into. It feels wonderful.
Don't miss out on a blessing, just because it isn't packaged the way you expected. ~MaryJo Copeland |

Posted - Jan 24 2009 : 12:44:15 PM My hubby has diabetes and alot of skin issues (due to diabetes and other complications). I made a superfatted goat milk soap that he uses excusively. Also have him soak in the tub periodically (at least 2x/week) with Dead Sea Salts, epsom salts, sweet almond oil, lavender, arnica. It has relieved alot of the itchiness and dryness, but there are lesions that I have not been able to get to heal (nor the doctors with their traditional meds).

Posted - Jan 23 2009 : 11:51:25 PM I know how important it is to keep your feet healthy when you have diabetes. Both my mom and gramma were diabetics.
First of all, make sure you have your doctor check your feet when you go in for check-ups. If you have neuropathy you may not feel any injuries or infections.
I'm a pre-diabetic now, but I monitor myself "as if" and I care for my feet and the rest of me with a rich moisturizer. I use Cetaphil cream, the kind that comes in a jar. Its rich and goopy and I slather it on my feet and put cotton socks on. Not glamerous, there is no fancy smell or anything, but it really helps with dry skin.
