Okay, I know you have one...
A favorite scent from a growing or dried plant that just turns your world around, makes you sappy happy, or looney swooney, or or how about love-dovey???
I love the scent of fresh rose petals, they melt my heart.
Honeysuckles, passionflowers and jasmine blossoms make my feminine blood boil and the smell of Hops just make me mellow and relaxed.
And surely, there is the eternal sigh (""aahh") of lavender in bloom.
Well, then there is warm ginger cookies, too.
How about you???

Grandpa was a carpenter and a great teacher, he made me feel so good about me that I married a carpenter! and fresh mown grass smells so good. Lavendar and rosemary go in my tub!

Here is a mix I use at work...
Lavender and Grapefruit EO
The mix is a good scent both men and women like it and it's not too over powering.
I have sachet hanging from the heat register in our office (3 people 2 men and me!)

Lilacs are my most favorite scent in the whole world. I love to smoosh them in my face. I always feel so sad when the last ones fade. As far as herbs, I love basil, rosemary and lavender. I have a pasta recipe that calls for fresh basil and smells absolutely devine when it's cooking.

Well my favorite smell that just makes me happy I wear it every day and I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet it's Bergamont. I also love Geranium, I grow tons of it and have a few different types of oil. I lucky enough to have a Sister-in-law who goes to Greece every year and visits this island there called Santarinie (spell??) to see a man in his pharmacy where he distills his own essentail oils (am I lucky or what?)and his geranium is unlike anything I've found so far. Of course I love lavender I rub a little leave everytime I'm in the garden. And then there is my name sake "Melissa" and I love her lemony goodness. There is another scent that I wear everyday, acutally I use it for deorderant, it's Patchouli. I've been wearing this earthy oil as deorderant for years now and I never get tired of it.

Blessed Be

I absolutely love lavender. I put EO in all my cleaning stuff. I use lavender balm on my temples and arches of feet to help me sleep. I grow it in the garden. Also love and grow rosemary, purple sage, all kinds of herbs. My fav cooking herbs are any kind of basil and cilantro. Love that cilantro!!

Jenny - you're right about lemon balm! Mine does smell like lemon pledge. Guess I'll get some lemon verbena to plant next spring.

My absolutely fav garden smell is my lilacs!! I try to leave some on the bushes, but I fill the house and my office with vases of them. I've loved them since I was a little girl.

Oh Lemon Verbena...I love it too. Havn't planted any since I moved here 3 and 1/2 years ago but always grew it in CAlif. I like it much better than lemon balm..which smells like lemon pledge to me..nice but not something I want to drink as a tea. Will have to plant some this spring too!! Pineapple sage is a favorite too..I love how it looks as well as the smell and all!!

Marghoram is another clean smelling herb I like. I have it growing under my clothesline. Bay is another herb that sends me into orbit.

Another fragrance that I just love is the scent given off by the balsam fir just before a rain and after a long dry spell. It is elusive and hard to tell where that smell is coming from but it permeates the air with its fragrant freshness.

Pink Jasmine, I just love. I have a vine and when it blooms you can find me near it sniffing the air. I also love soft rose petals, I have a gold metal yellow rose with the softest of scents, just love it. And when I weed around my sage and rosemary I come in smelling of cooking (at least that's what it reminds me of)

I also love summer savoury.

Basil - any variety or color - dried or fresh, just makes me think of a sunshiny day and all sorts of happy things. I have to rub my hands in it - love it when my hands smell like basil!

Lavender is a new fave. I'd never grown it in FL and Provence grows fairly well here in N. GA. I never thought I liked it because all the "lavender-scented" stuff you find in the store does NOT smell like lavender!
MeadowLark Posted - Nov 18 2005 : 2:52:32 PM
Not sure BEB on the type of sage....it just smells kind of musky and "male" if that is a good term, kind of like some men's cologne from the 70's a guy with lots of chest hair, gold chains, aviator sunglasses that drives a red ferrari...not that this is what turns me on in men...but you get the picture...manly, virile, but good heavens not like one of those buck goats....This sage has purple on the end of the leaves...

I adore rosemary and lavender and just swoon when I smell pennyroyal...I love to "pet" my little plant and savor the smell. pine needles are a favorite too...
When I choose a scented candle it is ALWAYS a cinnamony type thing though...yum.
good topic!!

Oh fresh new growth on desert sage, How mellowing! Vanilla makes me hungry, Rose petals fragrant and sweet send me to the moon. Lavender makes me think of clean sheets dried on the line and folded in the cupboard with a fresh sprig in them for freshness. Lavender tean now there is a relaxing cuppa. Rosemary and wild geranium make me want my man.
When I had my formal wear and wedding sewing business It was named
"The Honeysuckle and Heliotrope gallery" these two things I grew up and over my porch rails with heliotrope in pots all along the walk. The smell of these two things makes me feel at home.
Another smell that just sends me to the moon is the smell of the cotton woods in spring. The sap running and the bud ends give out the most delicious smell!!! I could rub the buds all over my hands and keep the peaceful feelings all day long.

I love, love, love rosemary. Everytime I walk by a plant I just have to rub it so I can smell that wonderful scent -- perks me up and make me happy. Rose petals and jasmine are two floral scents that make me feel so feminine and peaceful. I will buy any kind of soap, cream etc that is scented with either of those two!

what kind of sage,
meadowsweetie?
Garden, Prairie, Desert, or White variety??
I love that desert sagebrush. Throw a little in me woodstove when I start it.
The smell of fresh garden sage, however gives me an instant headache.
go figger.
