Posted - Sep 17 2008 : 05:15:27 AM Ok Ladies, I know there is some expertise out there for this. I have Eczema on my eyelids which is very painful and ugly when it flairs up. It is hard to find something that doesn't get into my eyes too when I put it on. Any suggestions for treatment out there? I must be allergic to something in the fall. It seems to flair up very badly about now. Morgen

Posted - Jan 12 2009 : 1:26:20 PM I've had this for years and have tried many things. Calamine lotion and Oatmeal Bath Soaks seem to work good for me. Not sure if you can use Calamine on the eyes, but you might try some oatmeal in a dishtowel. Steep it in hot water and then place the towel on your eye for awhile. Not to hot, though!

Posted - Dec 18 2008 : 08:54:46 AM Morgen, I sell this type of soap. It's cold process, so there's no synthetic ingredients to irritate you're already irritated skin. It's made by a wild soap bar. it's listed on mywebsite as well, http://www.thelittlegreenstore.net/#/awildsoapbar/4531905321 Here's the description: If you've got skin problems, our tea tree scented pine tar and neem oil soap is for you! Customers tell us it helps their psoriasis, eczema, rashes, acne and dandruff. . . but try it yourself and you be the judge. The combination of generous amounts of pine tar AND neem oil plus organic aloe puts this bar far above its commercial counterparts.
Also, Angel Baby Botton Balm may be just the right blend of ingredients for you: http://www.thelittlegreenstore.net/#/earthmamaangelbaby/4531905294 Angel Baby Bottom Balm (76.718% organic) Olea europaea (organic olive) oil, Calendula officinalis (organic calendula) extract, Hypericum perforatum (organic St. John's wort) extract, Stellaria media (organic chickweed) extract, Plantago major (organic plantain extract), Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, Euphorbia antisyphilitica (candelilla), Simmondsia chinensis (organic jojoba) oil, proprietary blend of Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil and Commiphora myrrha (myrrh) oil

Posted - Dec 17 2008 : 7:33:43 PM Morgan, have you found anything that has helped you yet? All these things sound great. I have this, too, and it would always be worse in the fall and winter when it was dryer. I would start taking evening primrose oil capsules asap when it got bad. It took a few weeks to start noticing a difference, but it always worked.
But now since I've been drinking the ACV and honey, I don't need to do that anymore. I don't even have to take allergy pills. I don't know how bad it is for you. What works for one may not work for another.
I just saw this and thought I'd throw my two cents in here.

Posted - Nov 05 2008 : 08:16:44 AM I have a good friend who is quite prominent in the natural health community here where I live. I have another friend whose daughter deals with eczema in the wintertime and he suggested that drinking beet juice to stimulate the liver might be helpful. I really have no experience with this treatment, but this guy usually doesn't steer us wrong so I'm passing this along. Hope you get some relief soon!

Posted - Nov 05 2008 : 07:59:03 AM Calendula creme is supposed to help too. I'm trying some right now. I need to go through the market place and try to get some from the farmgirls, as the one from the health food store is mixed in petroleum jelly.

Posted - Sep 17 2008 : 10:05:29 AM I've had eczema flare-ups since I was 13. Like you, I find the fall to be a little worse since the air begins to dry out. If your eczema is allergy related taking an anithistimine might help, but more likely than not it's because there is less moisture in the air. Try having a humidifier going at night in your bedroom that might help a bit as well.
Avoid putting cosmetics on if possible. The Body Shop used to make a product called elderflower eye gel, I think they still carry it. I find that it helps a bit to bring the swelling and redness down. There are also many non-soap face cleansers out there, commerical soaps tend to dry out the skin, purchase "home-made" if possible. Also you might want to take omega oils (i.e. Salmon Oil, Flax Oil, etc), I find those really help keep my skin in better shape.
Know it's not pleasant.

Posted - Sep 17 2008 : 09:44:58 AM I have suggested Emu Oil to my clients. One girl gets it bad on her hands and loves the Emu products. I usually dont endorse anything like that, but I've had a few clients with stubborn cases, and tossed that out as a suggestion....

Posted - Sep 17 2008 : 08:23:14 AM I would make a strong comfrey tea or calendula tea, soak a cloth in it and put it on your eyelids. Just think a few minutes a couple of times a day to sit and relax with your eyes closed!! As far as creams.... most of them are going to eventually get a little runny and possibly get into your eyes, so be careful!

Posted - Sep 17 2008 : 06:36:29 AM Morgan - that really sounds painful. I know what can help for eczema on the body but the eyes are a whole different matter. It would probably be best to go to the doctor for something like that.

Posted - Sep 17 2008 : 06:36:06 AM Have you tried Vitamin E oil? And there is a wonderful product called MiraCell. I think you can find it online. Anything around the eyes is tricky. Good luck. MB
