Posted - Jun 12 2008 : 07:37:29 AM I have a couple of family members who have excessively oily skin. Does someone know of an herb or herb blend which might help reduce the production of the oil? I know with one person, the problem is more of an external issue because he over stimulates his skin causing more oil to be made. But I thought there was something you could take orally to help too?????
  Thanks

Posted - Jul 26 2008 : 05:37:02 AM I'm an esthetcian by trade: honey is full of natural properties that heal and soothe. Its called propolis, and I think it'd be good on your troubled skin. However; If you feel like you need a toner try boiling a handful of lemongrass (antiseptic) to make a strong tea. Then I'd use a 2:1 ratio of that with distilled (pure) water. Use a cotton ball and smooth across the face. Another great thing for acne but can be drying is tomato leaves. You end up smelling like salsa! Just kidding. Do the tea thing with the boiled tomato leaves. Hope is helps, and if you need any skin advice, I'm here! One reason I became an esthetcian is becasue I have battled skin problems my whole life and I'm nearing 38! Its tough!

Posted - Jul 11 2008 : 7:43:28 PM Angie, I have a little trouble with the oily skin problem. Not all the time but when I get it it is really bad. Believe it or not, I've found (on a post from another farmgirl) that using honey as a facewash works wonders. You just wet your face, squeeze the honey out onto your hand and rub it in. Then rinse it off with warm water. My skin always feels so refreshed and stays "dry" until the next morning. I wash it at night with the honey and then regular noxema soap and lotion in the morning. Hope it helps! hugs Jess
