I love it when the first catlogs for seeds begin to come in - I can sit for hours reading descriptions of all the wonderful new varieties of flowers, herbs and vegetables. Kitchen Garden Seeds is sitting next to my bed and tonight I will read it before I drift off to sleep dreaming of spring -
What is your favorite garden catalog?

Good point, Gwen. I'll start another thread later today. Meanwhile, I can recommend http://www.seedsofchange.com for herbalists in search of high quality organic herb seeds. I've purchased Seeds of Change seeds at my local heath food store for years. Their Calendula is the only honest-to-Goddess Calendula officinalis I've ever found for medicinal use. |

In the wee hours of the morning the other night, I popped the word free garden catalog in to the google search engine and just went ape*hit - hehehe I can hardly wait to see what lovely catlogs show up in my mailbox.
It is not a free catalog, but if you like herbs the Sandy Mush has a wonderful and interesting catalog. Cooks Garden is a free one and is one of my favorites!

What are your favorite seed/starter-plant catalogs? I'm in zone 7 and am especially interested in hearing from farmgirls who've found dealers whose stock appears especially well-suited to our growing conditions. |

I am loving it!! They are really coming in now!! I love Bakers best, and love to see them all. I have a stack of them in the bathroom and when I make my "getaway" (4 kids you know) I quietly read. I have been known to dissapear in there with a cup of hot herbal tea for awhile..haha.
I love the planning part of the garden almost as much as the gardening!

I'm getting anxious for spring, particularly to plant my new herb garden at the farm. The ground is rototilled and ready. I think I am going to buy plants vs. seeds since we are staring a fresh garden there and we are not yet living at the farm fulltime. Has anyone had good luck purchasing live herb plants from catalog houses, or shall I stick with my local nursery? I've got cuttings from my existing herb garden ready to go already; lemon balm, thyme, sage, chives, parsley and garlic.

I just got the catalog "The Cook's Garden" and love it..European seeds..a wee bit pricier than the other seed catalogs that I have recieved thus far..but lovely, lovely varieties of lettuces and lettuce mixes.
I am really considering ordering a bunch of varieties of those from them.
I am soooo feeling the Spring bug starting to bite.
Can't wait to get out my seed starting trays and get to planting.
