We've been pondering what to do this year for our annual 4th of July FARM FAIR, since the 4th falls on a Wednesday this year-2007. Nationwide, the 4th will be celebrated on that day. That poses a problem for our event because our vendors who attend come from far and wide. It's a lot of work to load a trailer full of farm collectibles or set up a food booth for just one day. And traveling is problematic when people have only one day off. We've decided instead to cancel Farm Fair 2007 and encourage everyone to attend Brenda's events in Fairfield, Washington, about an hour's drive from here. www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7295 We'll bow out for now. Her event sounds like perfect farmgirl fare anyway. I'm sure she would appreciate our support and encouragement. We sure are looking forward to attending! Hope to see you there!!!

However, do stay tuned for MaryJane's 2008 4th of July Farm Fair details.

MaryJane's daughter,

Meg

The Farm Chicks are not doing their event either. Brenda's is replacing that. I'm waiting to receive a packet of info from Brenda. Missy & I are contemplating doing her Past Blessings Show.

Bummer! BUT at the same time I am so relieved since I couldn't imagine doing Farm Fair this year with a baby and 2 little kids and at the same time I couldn't imagine NOT participating in Farm Fair. Soooooooo will spend the year making a broader inventory. Is Brenda's gig in Fairfield different from Farm Chicks? I was thinking of participating in that this year if they let me in!
keeping you all in the light of smiles and joy!

It looks like I am in the same boat. My daughter and I (aka chickenlips) were wanting to go up also. She has never been on a trip all by herself. I have and am willing to go to the Moon even. But she needs to be broke in slow. So this year we are putting the gr. kids into camps and going to Sedona and Flagstaff, AZ to see how the two of us do. We will come next year, via Mt. Home, where Belinda was born.

SO, selfishly, I'm OK with this decision. My daughter and I are going on a covered wagon trip and I wouldn't be able to make it this year. Gives me another year to save up for the trip. See you all in 2008!

Julia and I were going to make the trip together and leave the kiddies to the men. I am sorry to hear it is not going to happen. July 4th is our combined birthday and it was going to be our gift to each other! But now we have another year to plan! 2008 here we come!

I can certainly understand wanting to "bow out" for this coming summer's Farm Fair - AND - it sure is great that there is another venue for a farmgirl festival! Brenday, I'm excited about 2007, and MJF, I'm looking forward to 2008!!!

XOXO, Libbie

Maryjane,
What a sweetheart you are!! We are so excited about our show, but saddened to hear yours will not be happening. Perhaps you can just do it a bit later in the summer? I just emailed you back and we would love to have you involved in our show. You are truly the "Queen Farmgirl" so having you there would be the icing on the cake!

I will keep each of you posted as the show gets closer on details. God bless each of you!

Oh, Well!! I understand, for sure....I am guessing that planning and hosting such a big event requires alot of time and energy, AND Nana Jane should be spending her energy on the new arrival!!

I think I will re-read the chapter in MaryJane's Book about hosting a FarmFair of our very own! Even something small like a pot-luck dinner and bonfire with other farm girls and their families would be super fun, something small, with the folks in our area....we could all do it locally!!

Thanks Meg, We will look forward to 2008, and in the mean-time, hug that babe!

This just makes me so sad. Missy & I were just talking about it the other day. I just assumed that Farm Fair would be the weekend before the 4th like it was last year. For us it's not even so much about being a vendor as it is getting to visit the Farm and see everyone. Well we'll just have to plan for 2008.

Sounds like a good idea. Brenda sounds like she is planning some fun stuff. It is alot closer as far as travel for most of us who live in the area. Hope you all will have a booth there with MJF goods for sale!

Oh, how I hate to hear this. Since I had planned to attend last year and didn't because of the job loss and moving to the country, dh had told me he "wanted" (I know it was just for me ) to go there this year! I understand the situation but sure am disappointed. Next year will be the year dd graduates and all she wants from us is for her & I to do a mother-daughter cruise that summer. So we won't be able to take another big trip that year. Darn!

Oh, sadness. I was going to try and get my sisters to come with me. But, we may just have to go to Brenda's instead!! That will be something fun to look forward to. Really, it's a very thoughtful thing that you are doing. A true Farmgirl act. :)
