The first of two farmgirl chapter quilts arrived today!

The little bit of the quilt we can see without opening it up (so I could take a photo of the beautifully ribboned and "strawberried" package) is just gloriously stitched. Gorgeously and amazingly created. There aren’t words. You can just feel the love!!!! (Actually, to quote Cindylou, “This is beyond love!”) Chapter member Gloria Walls is livin' up to her name! We are overwhelmed by this quilt that we’ll open entirely after I post this!! (From the side, it looks like her quilting stitches match or echo each and every square, i.e. If a chapter square had trees, then Gloria’s quilting stitches mimicked the trees! The full quilt will be on display for Farm Fair and many, many photos of it will be taken and posted. Don’t forget, if your chapter square didn’t make it into this quilt, Gloria is still working on the second quilt. Gloria donated her time. Our chapter funds paid for materials. Our lower jaws are still on the floor ...

MaryJane

P.S. Also in the photo are Gloria’s signature strawberry pincushions and two sets of adorable pillow cases. I know some farmgirls who are gonna have some sweet, sweet dreams this weekend with lots of pillow talk into the wee hours of the morning!!!!

P.P.S. From Gloria’s “Strawberry House Quilting” brochure: “Happiness is finishing and owning a quilt! Have you always wanted a beautiful quilt for your bed, a guest bed or even your sofa? Well we could design one or pick an old favorite, with your special colors. It can be done! Or do you have a quilt top ready to be quilted? We could also get that completed. Sandwiched with batting, backing and finished off with a binding! Maybe you have an old family quilt top that needs finishing--just call me! Together we can get it finished.” You can contact Gloria through e-mail via the forum. Her screen name is: berries

I loved being a part of it, too. It was fun to look at the second one again, and see our square. Where do they reside nowadays?

It is sad and when I tried to track down some of these farm gals I hit a dead end. Some are still here. MB I'll keep trying. MB

It is sad that I don't recognize very many names in this quilt.

Lots of hard work there. Beautiful job. I like to make soft puffy quilts and either stitch in the ditch or hand tie.

Both quilts are as beautiful as can be. I am so glad I got to be part of the whole thing. My chapter is on the first quilt and I now am the only one in the chapter, but lovin' it. Isaw the first quilt 'in person' last year and it is breath-taking. I mean awesome. Berries is the GREATEST as are all the farm girls. Mary beth

So glad you like it Aunt Jenny! I think it turned out beautiful! Of course it couldn't have been without all those beautiful redwork blocks! Maybe we will get to do it again!

And thanks sunshine too! I await the exchange blocks. I can see a beautiful quilt just for me.

Thanks for letting me know I thought maybe it was lost in the mail. Maybe it can be a pillow or some other thing as the group is now disbanded since two out of three moved. I think both quilts are beautiful. I actually have a few signature blocks for you from the block swap. I am waiting on one more. Then I will mail them to you. If group one ever gets done you should get some from there too, same size as group two but smaller than these in these two quilts and not all red work either.

sunshine, all the blocks that were sent to me were put in either #1 or #2 quilt. There was a utahfarmgirl in #1 if I'm remembering correctly.

Cindy Lou was handling them then and she actually gave me the list for the labels.

Hi Sunshine,
If I remember correctly, your square came in late and so it became the "odd man out." I think it's still here waiting for our *someday* third quilt. Isn't the second one gorgeous!!!! You should see them in person. Gloria put a million, no a trillion, stitches in them. Thank you everyone for creating such a precious testament to farmgirl community and unity!
