Hi Cathy-

Congratulations on your picots!!!! Yeah!! Isn't it fun? I'm working on mine and probably have about three inches as well. I'm pretty slow at it still but I really like it. Katy was so sweet to work with! Did you notice the lovely photos of her in the newest issue of the magazine??

So, this weekend is our show and it appears to be falling into place for everyone. I'm still working on a candy mirror that can be broken on stage without it sticking to everything. Any suggestions??? We'll give it another try tonight. The director is pleased with it as is but I'd like to make it easier to clean up.

Let me know how your performance goes!! I'd love photos if you can work that out. And thanks for getting shots of me at Settler's Creek and for the ride back...it was really nice getting to know you and Rob...you're awesome!!!

Thank you to everyone for your comments and for the wonderful memories that you've helped make for me. I feel so CONTENT! It was such a great weekend.

Alee-did we get a chance to meet???? I had my radar out for you because we had chatted via email, and I was looking forward to exchanging hugs! I had such a response about my quilted bag with my badges on it that I've decided to put together some instructions for making it so that others can give it a try. I haven't decided where to post it...my blogsite/somewhere on the thread/or elsewhere. If you have any suggestions how to make it easily accessible I'd welcome them. Sorry you missed the Sunday event...it was fabulous!

Tina- I read your little quote as I was perusing the thread and I honestly sat here and laughed until I had tears streaming down my face!!! My family loves to make up and tell chicken crossing the road jokes, and I have a henhouse full of chickens with a variety of personalities, so your quote really struck a funny bone in me. Thanks for a good laugh!

XOXO to all!
Carrie

It was so good to hear the nice things Maryjane speak about your accomplishments. Visiting with you after lunch was an honor to meet such a great young farm sister. You do really give us the idea of what a farm girl is on either coast. I do hope you do come back because I would like to talk to you more.(or maybe on your blog) Anyways congratulations you deserve it.

Hi Judy!

It's in the Sisterhood section and is it's own master category that is locked so only MaryJane and Carol can post there:

Where is the "WooHoo" thread? I did a couple searches and didn't find it. What topic is it under?

And, congratulations Carrie!

carrie,
you are delightful! and brave to fly out here for the first time!!! it was so much fun meeting you and seeing you here and there all weekend.
after watching you tat at settlers creek i strapped on my perseverance cap and now have about a 3 inch run of picots!!! it is fun and so portable it well easily fit in your 1970 trailer for the trip out here next year!
i'm hoping we can have an expo day where we can learn more and hone our skills in some of the farmgirl activities like tool sharpening, tatting, spinning, the list goes on.... renee could teach us how to oil our bike chains. we could rotate through them all day long and swap ideas and helpful hints.
it was an action packed weekend wasn't it.
looking forward to your blog news.
love,
cathy

Amie-

I wish you were a little closer so that we could meet. I think there are about 6 hours between us. I do, however, have an online henhouse that I am recruiting members for. It is "Aprons of the Adirondacks" and still has no other "log in" members except me (lonely!!). I'm looking for ladies to chat and maybe organize some get togethers if possible so that we could share our skills and do some projects together. Who knows...maybe we could caravan out to Farm Fair next year??

Oh, and joy of joy...Miss Katy from the farm taught me to tat and I just HAVE to share it with everyone! That would be on my list of things to do at a get together because we just cannot let this lovely art fall by the wayside.

Hi "Katmom" Grace! Thanks so much for your congrats...it was so absolutely wonderful to meet you and chat and put a face with the name I see while I am on the thread! We seem to be drawn to so many of the same subjects which must mean we are "bosom friends"! The really amazing thing about my visit to Wash/Idaho was that I am a homebody and not gregarious by any standards, but I was sooooo very comfortable among my "sisters" that it was very easy for me to be so far from home and still feel that I was home!

I love you all! Thank you for caring for me and honoring me while I was with you...it truly was a dream come true and an adventure I will cherish FOREVER!! Thank you for ordering PERFECT weather for me while I was there. I sadly have returned home for another week long forcast of rain and storms. Though I hear that the Palouse is not fairing much better since I left.

By the way...I hope hope hope to come again next year and catch up with everyone. HOWEVER...I think I will stay on the ground and maybe bring my new "summer home"--a 1970 Tag A Long! The lovely and gracious Prosser Farmgirls promised they'd find me a place to park her and camp out for the weekend. Yippee!

Carrie M

PS...Rene-I'm glad to see a post from you this morning! You are still hanging in there??? Hope you got some rest and that your sunburn is healing. I spoke with Carol this morning and she was going to check in with you and see that all was well. You did a tremendous job pulling everything together for this weekend. You're AMAZING!!! Take good care of yourself...I'll stay in touch!

PSS...I will try to update my blog site because I'm sure that ladies will be curious about my little farm life here in NY. I'm ashamed that it has been a year or better since I posted :(

Carrie, was actually "hand-picked" by MaryJane as someone who exemplifies a true farmgirl. The number of badges she has earned, the standard she has set in earning those badges, how she has and is teaching young women to do the same. I don't suspect we will EVER set a list of criteria for this "gifted" award. I think it will always be something that the Queen bee herself decides as she watches the farmgirls live their lives "out-loud" and in so many brillant ways. You can check out Carrie's work under the WooHoo thread. Thank You Carrie!

Congratulations Carrie, and from N.Y. also, and 1st time flyer way to go. I used to enjoy flying but now it seems the older I get the less I like leaving my little corner of the world. Congratulations, enjoy your year...

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Could someone fill me in on the "Farm Girl Sister of the Year"? What are the criteria and how is she chosen? What's the difference between this and the "Farmgirl of the Month" thing that I see going on here?

I'm not trying to stir up any trouble...please don't take offense, Carrie. I just want to understand how it works so I can appreciate how Carrie's being honored.
