DH and I arrived back home late last still feeling a little "hung over" from all the fun and activity. I am planning on spending most of the day doing laundry, mowing the yard and tending the garden but of course there is always a few loose ends that require attention too. Things were SOOOO busy at the Mill on Sat. That the only folks I got to visit with where the ones that came to the informaiton booth. I did drive down the route after the event at Oakesdale and all the towns were so thrilled and loved having all the farmgirls pass through.

I am all for Miss Wilma being assigned to me for the 2010... I already have my little head reeling with a theme and ideas....let's just say "cut off's" will be required. :)

oh Wilma,
I am tickled pink about the iron board....it has the origional Sears & Roebucks lable, with a reg.date as of 1937. How cool is that. No cover pad but it's no matter...I plan to cover it with some vintage table covers & a apron or two around the edge and then use the ironboard as a service table or a mini Wine/Martini Bar...lol!
(Thanx Juli for the idea)

Grace our husbands would get along just fine, A couple of months ago I bought a rare squirrel cage for 250.00 Well Smart britches Sterl said he thought 50.00 would have been a good price for it. Yesterday I SOLD IT FOR 750.00, DO YOU KNOW HE HAS NO COMMENT. Its not that he doesnt think I done good on it its because he has had to eat crow. So just dont pay any attention to him and do your own thing. Glad you found the iorning board, I love mine and have used it for many years, I also have another one that I use in the sewing house .You can bet I am planning on next year.

I nominate Miss Wilma to be Rene's side kick for 2010~~~~~~
as for boogieing,,,holly cow Batman! my feet were so dog tired from shopping the Palouse the day before that it was all I could do to to sit on the lawn.
As for shopping....
Here is the quick run down of my DH's comments...
1. You bought this?
2. Why?
3. What are you going to do with it or- where are you going to put it?
4. I can't beileve you bought this
5. You paid how much?
I am thinking that these are the strandard "man-comments" instilled in hubbies everywhere at birth! lol!
Miss Wilma,,,,I did my share of shopping in your honor! now can I come live with you till hubby cools down? lol!
Ok, so mark your calander for next year so you don't let any other things pop up to keep you from attending...
Oh, by the by,,,I bought a vintage 1937/38 ironing board, yep a vintage domestic diva housewife slave labor devise! But it is really cool! I plan to use it for my Sisters on the Fly outtings(an idea I am stealing from a friend & fellower Sister on the Fly gal pal)and will decorate it with vintage table covers & aprons....
Oh & Miss Wilma....that Rene' of ours,,,,she is an absolute Hoot! A real "Flapper". Love ya too, Rene.

Miss Wilma,
I got your messages AFTER I got back to the hotel as I didnt have good phone coverage there. I was SOOOOOO busy! We had such a great turn out. Miss Wilma, I could so see you at the Store on Friday night, you would have LOVED IT! Flappers everywhere, big band music, great food and more...... Sat. was HOT and packed. Some vendors did great in sales and others not so much.. but it seems everyone had a blast. ALL of the towns down the Palouse reported record traffic and record sales. Sunday, the weather cooperated and cooled down a little, and it was such a lovely afternoon of fiddle music, lunch, a few vendors and a little scheduled program.. then for a few "die-hard" farmgirls... some line dancing...I finished the weekend off with a "brialliant" glass of huckleberry wine...

I was continuellay surrounded with Farmgirls taking care of me. I have NEVER felt more loved and spoiled. What a GREAT group of women we have. I have already started making plans for 2010, adjusting the few things that need adjusted and building on all the things that really worked well. I am still up in Spokane... so when I get home I will begin to start posting some pictures.....

I think sales were not as expected. Lots of folks are used to heading to the lake for the 4th. A lot of interest in antiques. But even so, the vendors I chatted with were happy, really enjoyed the people, and would come again. I think it was a new location, and it has been a year? two? since the last farm fair? and I was told this means it will just take time for it to take off and do as well as some vendors expect. I love that everyone was so supportive and optimistic about the next one. Also, it was our first really hot weekend, it must have been 90-100 and thankfully there was a breeze. The people were definitely the highlight for me.

I was helping out at what was intended to be a farm garden booth with produce/flowers. Our gardens are still producing mostly just greens at this point. I know we could have bought produce to stock the whole booth from a wholesaler, but personally, that feels like cheating. Being so hot, no one was as interested in lettuce/spinach/swiss chard/cilantro as they were in other treasures. Cherries, summer squash, etc. are still 1-2 weeks from being ready to harvest here, so that was disappointing. Washington has some pretty strict regulations on farm markets too that left our hands a bit tied. But hopefully next year it will be better as we learn more what will/won't work.

Julie and Wilma - my heart is heavy too that I will miss this historic time of MJF friendship and fun. It would have been a milestone for me, but as you say, we will be sorry to miss out, but so happy for those who can be a part of it.

Miss Wilma,
I didn't get it done.... I keep holding out to find the time. But my hands have been a little full. But the "dress" is beautiful. Love the color and the bead work. Miss you already! R
