On June 4th we will create one of a kind lampshades using antique frames, vintage lace, notions, gorgeous fabrics, buttons, and more. Wait until you see the baskets of supplies we have for you to work with! If you want to bring your own items along please do (perhaps you know that red is your color or that you want your mama's best hankie stitched on).

Laid-back appliqué is a method for securing pieces of fabric and oddments to a background fabric using simple decorative stitches for creating everything from chiffon scarves to lampshades. Learn how to use these decorative hand stitches to add details to your next project.

Instructors: Rebekka Boysen, Katy King

* Skill level: Beginner
* Class Fee: $20
* Supplies: Kit fee $25 (includes all materials for creating the lampshade on display in store).
* Time: Thursday, June 4th 7:00pm–9:00pm
* Location: MaryJanesFarm Store, 210 E. Sherman, Coeur d’Alene, ID

Hey Rebekka,
I even found the perfect pattern for my saturday.. 1920's traveling dress...I even found some vintage material for it.. Now to find the time to sew it.. I may have to enlist my grandma. I think I will be making the hat in the newest issue of the magazine to go with it as well... I will bring it all and show you all at the class..... Love it when a plan comes together....

Rebeccca you are right about Katy not only is she a knockout beauty, those hands are awesome, I am emptying the sewing house so if I have anything you need let me know. Will send you some more lace for your daughter. I am definately retiring this year only going to do my dolls and critters.

Rest assured there will be pictures;) Who else is joining us for this class? Those of you who want to come early and get dinner or a glass of vino before will have lots of fun places to choose from. Katy, our Styling and Design Diva, will be coming with me and she has lots of fun tricks up her sleeves for embroidery. Mary Jane says she tats so fast her hands fly, I have seen it and Katy is awesome to learn from- there is literally nothing she hasn't tried! I can't wait for you to meet her.
See you all soon, Rebekka

Hey Julia! 'The Leg' has me rolling, perfect.
Sadly we just don't come across enough of the supplies for this class often enough to have extras. Keep your eyes peeled at the thrift and perhaps you will find an old frame to farmgirl up;)
We will have plenty of time to stitch together once the cast comes off- perhaps we will be sitting by the pool watching ALL the kids swim by the end of the summer.
Send our love to Aria, Rebekka

Rebekka Mae Goddess! I would LOVE this class.. Are you kidding? Let me just say that I would LOVE ANY class you put on!!! Let's just be clear on that one! This lamp shade just sends me into the cosmic creative stratosphere! LOVE IT!!

As MaryJane said to me I have "The Leg" to deal with right now! Cracked me up. I don't know what it was but referring to this crummy situation as The Leg totally lightened the load! Hilarious.

Anyway, yeah, the leg....Making plans is harder than before but being home and getting things done is happening, so I'm not the least bit rankled. Aria is amazing. She's just doing so well! She's skittish about her leg, which is too bad..She has NO desire to test it, test her limits and such. I don't blame her. It is what it is...

Hey, can I order a frame from you guys and make one on my own? Is that possible?

By the way, Gracie came by with the instructions and hook. THANK YOU so much!! She showed me her rug and I was blown away!! GORGEOUS!!!!!

Missing you all...sending big time love but feel the need to reassure you that all is sunny-shiney and well! ~julia

Monica- I wish you were coming, won't your silk thread look gorgeous in this project? My shade will be Iris inspired, hence the colors I ordered from you;) A little might end up in an applique on the knee of my daughters favorite pants, they were too short so I ordered some lace from Miss Wilma to lengthen them and now they have a hole in the knee but I am not giving up yet!!! Let me know if you have orange, I should get some too;)
Rebekka

Grace, Are you coming? I am pretty sure Vicky is but I need to check with her. Julia would love this project but things might be too hands on right now with Aria in her little cast.
