I have some all cotton sheets I bought at Goodwill for the class in off white background with little blue flowers and a touch of yellow, if you would like them. They are curtains (real long) but they are sheet weight. Maybe you would like to make some more with blue... let me know and I will get them to you. I think you live in AWH, right? So sorry about your camera, Ben Franklin in Cheney has some good prices on cameras.

i love blues girls so i find it amusing that you dont want to use them.
you could dye them though sandra.
my rug is done i only used the two sheets cause the kids love the size it is.
now for the bummer news, my camera isnt working now. i had to mention how i want this lovely camera at the class
and that night it stops working on me. grrrrr.... i didnt mean i wanted a new camera. i was happy with the one i had
i was only dreaming of the someday. so tommorrow i am off to see if it can be fixed or if i have to replace it.

karen i love your rug it turned out beautiful, now to go back a page and see if i missed anything

Sandra, loved hearing your story about sheets, and yes, you can use material or clothing. I believe they were made out of left over or worn out clothing in the 'day' (as they say now). I think it would be really fun to make them out of clothing that you could say hey, Billy, when you were 7 that was your shirt.... However, you will be knotting a lot more as the strips would be a lot shorter but that would be ok.
I too have a set of cotton drapes in the off white with blue flowers, not my color scheme.

Karen, your rug is gorgeous! I love the colors too! Can you use regular material too or does it have to be sheets? I don't like the colors of the sheets I have to use...they were my Mother's old sheets and she liked pale blue and I don't...I'm more a bright color gal and I loved yours with the red in it! Striking!
I do tend to crochet tight so I will have to be careful if I try this.
You gals are awesomely creative and please post more pictures so those of us who can't attend can at least Cheer for y'all! You GO Girlfriends!
I'll go through my sheets and post here so maybe I could send those "blue" ones to someone who likes pale blue...I better check to see if I still have them as I have been taking things to the thrift store and trying to do a little "Spring Cleaning" which for me needs to be a year round thing! Also, maybe I could dye the sheets to be a different color? Has anyone tried that? Anyway...I am enjoying this post even though I am far from Washington! Shirley Jean....you sound like you have done this before....lets see your rug, please?

The rag rug I made curled too. It began to look like a sombrero. But the looser you make your crocheting, the better it will lie flat. I undid a lot of mine, because I was just making it too tight.

Wow! You have all made such progress- the photos are great, it is EASY to get carried away and you will have new rugs that are nearly free...not to mention how pleased your friends will be to get these as gifts. I am hoping to make one per month until the holidays for family gifts, so far I am keeping two for myself;)
Rebekka

Karen- you did a great job of using different fabric weights together.

Hi, everyone, I just got back from Seattle last night and started on my rug again but was really disappointed in the curling so I just tore it all apart again and started a new one and it is doing much better. I guess I am just a slow learner! lol If this one goes as well as it started I am addicted. I will post a pic when I finish. I too have been having computer issues all day, Katmom.

This brings back such good memories. MaryJane and Meg came to Atlanta (Karin's house) a couple of years ago, and we went there, met her and made rag rugs together. I now have made about four rag rugs and my daughter has made four also, and we get our sheets at Goodwill for 3.00. Rag rug making is addictive!!!

ok, inspite of my horribly unreliable satelite service,,, and nearly 2 hours of yanking my hair out, I was able to finally get some pic's posted on both of my blogs, so if you want to see a pic of my finished rag rug, sneak over to my blog.....
I stripped a set of sheets last nite to start on another rag rug....OMG! see what you have started Rebekka??!!!

We really did have a great time and Rebekka was a super fun and patience teacher! Here are a few more pics. I will be gone most of this week, but I did start over and have done quite a lot since class. I'll try and catch up when I get back. Have fun while I am gone.
