Is there a round robin for the very first issue of MJF first issue? If so, how do I sign up?

Posted - Apr 14 2009 : 12:21:30 PM Would it be possible for the articles that were printed in the MJF 1st issue be reprinted, say one article at a time, and included in the next issue of MJF magazine. One article from the lst issue included in next issue until all the articles have been included. I would be sure to get each mag coming out to see what was in the lst issue. Does this make sense?

Posted - Apr 14 2009 : 08:24:57 AM That's a great idea ladies, unfortunatly, self publishing a magazine has astronomical costs. When I used to help out at the Farm we looked into it a little bit- I will have to go back and see if I can find the information, but I believe that it would be over $30,000 for publication. The printing of magazines is expensive and the only way to defray the cost is by wide spread circulation, advertising, and having a high sticker price. So even if MaryJane priced them at $10 a piece she would still have to sell at least 3,000 just to break even, let alone benefit the farm in anyway. Perhaps is she ever does another book, maybe we could encourage her to have a chapter entitled "The Premiere Issue"

Posted - Apr 14 2009 : 08:18:47 AM Good idea, Chris. A commemorative copy of the first issue would be a great idea to benefit the farm. Most of us have the back issues and keep every issue of the current editions, so having the premier issue would be a treasure.

Posted - Apr 11 2009 : 07:59:33 AM I wonder if Mary Jane would consider reprinting a commemorative copy of the first issue? I would be willing to pay some bucks for that, especially if it benefited the farm!

Posted - Apr 10 2009 : 4:02:00 PM The traveling Copy is now resting comfortably at the Store in Coeur D Alene Idaho, so when we are all there for Farm fair we can "visit it". I was one of the lucky ones with an original copy up until a couple of months ago when it came up missing
As a reminder the other back issues ( with the exception of the 1st one) can all still be purchased as a bundle through the farm.
there are now 2 bundles: the 1st consists of all the back issues of the farm magazine/catalogs then bundle #2 are all the current magazines back issues.... each bundle is $25.. there is so much info in those back issues that $25 is truly a steal.. here is the link http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/backissues.html

Posted - Apr 10 2009 : 3:48:39 PM Hi Linda!
The Farm used to do a round robin of the Premiere Issue, but it has since been "retired" from it's travels.

Posted - Apr 10 2009 : 3:05:59 PM Oh, I know there was...Alee the fantastic let me see it once. There was a journal traveling with it with great artwork and entries from the farmgals it visited. I haven't seen it in 2 years. Not sure what became of it, or if it is still out there making the rounds.
