We did have such fun! There are few things better than spending the afternoon with cherished farmgirls and "unwrapping" all the new things at the store. It seems every pass I find some new treasure. My "girls" all eight of them -Buff Orpingtons- are about to become fameous, as a friend came by to photograph for a magazine she works for..........I am waiting for the final decorations on their Hen Hotel and then I will post the details..... and pictures.. so be watching................

Yep-a-doodle, it was the best stitchin' fun I have had in a long time.
I so agree,,,,here we all had the same items to work with & yet we each came up with totally different ideas...I think what Michelle did, buy using the back side of the fabric rather then the bold front truly gave her master piece a true worn vintage look...too cute & to clever! Type-A or not, she created a wonderful piece.
Hugz & thank you all again for a wonderful day.

Pictures will follow soon...
I have to say that Michelle's piece is exquisite- the perfect mix of yellow, cream and white- with little hints of blue. It might have taken longer but it was worth that extra thought and consideration, classic and simple.
Julia's piece layered handmade cotton lace with aqua and pink edges over a bright background and the finest little pink stitches holding it together- such a joyful take on the picture we used...so very Julia!
Now Grace's piece is SO her- redwork french knots, cross stitch, and embroidery with candy pink highlights and the finest linen doilies and lace. Playful french county farmgirl!

The amazing thing is that they saw the same examples and pulled supplies from the very same baskets. Farmgirl genius in action and my cheeks are still sore from laughing so hard. Rene- I meant to ask you to share your chicken photo shoot story with the girls..have you posted it anywhere? Thank you all for coming, it was a perfectly spent Saturday.

It was oodles of fun. For those who couldn't make it, it would be so easy to do at a chapter meeting, and have so much fun! The best part, of course, was the visiting. I laughed and smiled so much it left my cheeks aching and I was really worn out afterwards. Fantastic friends! Great store! And the local people passing by the shop (or a mix of locals and tourists/conventioneers) couldn't but be charmed to see us out in front of the store with our vintage lace, smiles, aprons, animated conversation. Lots of them stopped and visited a bit too. Just a lovely day! The MJF LTE camper caught a lot of attention too. Oh, it makes me think of how to squeeze more time out of life for another paying job.... then I think of how to do it on my budget...and the whole point is being yourself, making do, and getting out and having fun! So inspiring. Farmgirls are so good at getting what they need/want in creative ways from what they already have.

And (gasp) I learned that I'm a type A. I stared at the overwhelming mountains of possibilities, and while everyone else was nearly done with their repurposed art, I was still thinking. I went home and told DH I had an epiphany. He laughed. I admitted to being at least somewhat type A. More laughter. I guess I'm the last one to realize this. :) What things we learn from friends! :) Great day.

Ooooh Amy, sounds like fun too!

Grace and Julia, I'll just make it easier and go sit with Grace on the porch waiting for 8:40 in my new apron. I sooooo need this. I won't gripe about my week. I'm just soooo ready for some creative, fun, talking, sharing feel-good recharge my batteries time.

I love the idea of making an online offering and/or kits to unite the far-flung farmgirls who will all be with us in our hearts. I so wish you were all here too. Such a treat! I'm hoping to learn enough to make some neat Mother's Day and/or Farmgirl's Day gifts. Is there a Farmgirl's Day? Oh yeah, tomorrow!

I'm so looking forward to seeing the goodies too. The biggest treat though is y'all and the smile and laugh so much I ache of it all.

I hope I can sleep.

When you see the laces, buttons and fabric that fell into my baskets you will be over the moon!

For those of you who are asking about online classes- what are you interested in? A kit with instructions and then a thread for discussion? A video?

Have you checked out the Mary Jane Way! Kits offered through the farm? They are like a class in a bag-
• Crocheted Pillow Edging Kit
• Dishtowel Apron Kit
• Fetchin’ Totebag Kit
• Lollipop Apron Kit

Less than 24 hours away. I'm so excited that I'm starting to annoy even myself! I have to be a little guarded still....one never knows what can happen. Aria didn't want to go to school today. She's VERY low key but her spirits are high so I'm hoping she's feeling well. She looks just o.k. My husband was able to take the day off and go fishing today....something he hasn't been able to do in a long long time. I'm thrilled for him. He understands completely how important tomorrow is for me; a break, sewing, which is a favorite thing, MaryJane anything, which is religious to me, farmgirl sisters, which is everything to me and so forth. I'll warn you that I'm kind of weepy about it all coming together. I want this so badly hope hope hope that it works out for me. If it does, I'll probably burst out in tears of joy!!! Just warning you is all!!

Michelle, by this time tomorrow Grace and I will be picking you up and heading to the Rockwood to see what falls into our pouches to bring! I'm thrilled...beyond thrilled!!!

Gracie and Michelle...looks good that I'll still be able to go. Yesterday Aria did not look well. She had the darkest circles under her eyes..the likes of which I have never seen before! She was absolutely exhausted. She still wanted to go to school today but we're planning a quiet afternoon. Soooo hopefully, she'll continue to stay stable..

Rebekka, can we bring you a nice treat? Can we bring treats in general for everyone? do let me know..they have such lovely things at that bakery. Deeelish!!

If any other gals are thinking about coming out to see us Saturday don't be shy. We will be stitching our hearts out and enjoying a nice warm day at the lake!

J,M,G-
You three will have the most delish coffee at the Rockwood, it was one of my favorite haunts when we lived on the South Hill...be careful, the quiches and soups might make you want to go back for lunch on your way home!!!

Don't be scared Rene, you are gorgeous with or without a nose ring;}

Gracie! I'm going to pick you up at your place around 8 45 am so we can cruise on over to Chaps and get Michelle. Then I thought we'd head up the s. hill a wee bit to a favorite bakery of mine, The Rockwood and grab a quick coffee and treat to go. We outta be on the road by 9 30 ish, which should give us plenty of time to get to CDA in time. CAN NOT Flipping wait!!
