Dear MaryJane -

I have never met you, MaryJane. I probably never will. Yet when I see your photos and read your books and order your products, I feel a kinship. What a miracle of technology!

No matter who posts here on this site...no matter how this website evolves....I want you to know that I like you! And you are my friend. My never-to-meet friend.

Merry Christmas from your friend in absentia-your fellow mother of a young married daughter, and your comrade in arms for the simple life.

God Bless.

Yay! A utah girl! My husband and I looked at buying a house in manti, and others along hwy 89, but then we found this one in paradise and fell in love. We've been here since Halloween, from slc. Paradise is south of logan off of hwy165. It's cold here! But beautiful. Are you a Manti native?

Hi, I'm new here, this is my first post. Beautiful poem! I just moved to the country to a house at the end of the road. My city friends think I'm crazy, it's nice to know that there are others like me out there. I bought MaryJane's book the first day I was here and it has inspired me in so many ways. Thank you!

Your room-mates will always remember you knitting, Holly. And they will take comfort in that memory, I just bet.

jpbluesky....you are so sweet!

I owe Maryjane a big overdue THANKS for taking the time to chat with me at The "Get Creative NYC" in Central Park this past October. Since I've been home, I've been so busy, I've not had the time to play on the computer....but an early Christmas pressie from Hubby, and fast internet service finally coming to my neck of the woods has got me sneaking in the time time to visit old friends! (this site loads up in seconds....it's really a miracle I tell 'ya!)

Maryjane, the "bakeover" demonstration was fun to watch in person, and your family and friends that were there with you are just the sweetest! I told friends back here at home, that meeting you was just like running into one of the neigbors over at the local coop!

I have had many an idea for camping recipes....as well as overnite kayaking trips, but no time to test! You'll be the first to know when we do though! I am hoping to get snowshoing tomorrow with the family, and of course it's got me thinking about a "gourmet backpack lunch"....hmmmmm......an idea for the future?

Anyhoo....thanks for being you, and for giving all of us farmgirls a place to call home!!

As an old fashioned girl, your poem spoke of worlds gone past, and yet of road continuing right here. I know there's hope for us youngin's when strong women like you are helping to carry on the traditions of hearth and home's light, carrying us through the cold commercialism's night (apparently there's a poet in all of us). Thanks to women like you and Mary Jane (and of course my mother hen), I know there's hope for me to find a place in my world, where I won't be considered the 'grandma' of my roommates because I knit. Keep the writing coming!

J.P. I made a copy of your poem and sent it in every one of my holiday cards. It reflects so much what i and many others of us are all about. My family and friends will enjoy it too.
Mary Jane, GREAT BIG CYBER HUGS TO YOU!

Good point, Julia! Leaders and people of inspiration need filling up a lot in order to continue. I know the farm, your hubby and your children and your employees do that, MaryJane, but I hope we also give you a boost when you need it!

I have been out of the loop for awhile and am trying to catch up. But my you girls make that a difficult task. There is always so much wonderful info, and heart felt posts that catching up seems almost impossible. After reading this post, and all the beautiful things said, I too, must chime in (Ding). My mom was the one who introduced me to you Maryjane, via your magazine. It immediatly filled my soul. Then finding this forum became one of the sources to encourage and strengthen my role as a wife, mother and woman. I continually am blessed and filled back up everytime I come here. I have made many friends,in my heart, with the kindship that is offered so freely here. Thanks Maryjane for opening your heart and world, to be a well spring for us all. May we in turn fill you up when the well runs dry.
God bless, Julia V.

what an extraordinary exchange! jpbluesky, your poem is magnificent. thank you for sharing..inspiration is contagious and I'll never cease to be amazed over how women decide to express such a divine force. Susan, your honesty was refreshing and grounding and I really appreciated your humility. What a wonderful idea to gather womenfolk to explore what already binds you and those things are tighten the knots. I love that.
Queen Bee Mary Jane, I, too, feel somehow indebted. You have not only validated my life choices but you have offered an array of new avenues to pursue for creative expression and simple living. I was listening to an old B52's song today and one of the lines is "she breaks for rainbows".. you have reminded me to do just that. I'm very grateful! thank you.
I understand that you will be in Spokane at Auntie's on Saturday for a book signing..am I correct? I'm planning to be there!! many smiles to you and all you beautiful farm-girls..
blessings, Julia

Thank you for the incredible adaptation of Foss' poem. The Foss poem is my father's favorite and I'm embroidering it for him for Christmas. I think I'll have to do a version of yours to hang on my wall.

Thanks MaryJane for suggesting this.

Ladies, I've been away from the forum for a couple of days and look what happened!! JP, I don't have the words to express my admiration for your poem. It gets right to the core of us farmgirls and speaks for us. Thanks for suggesting it, MJ. You know how I feel about you and your contributions to our lives.

In love and light,
Patricia

Happy Wishes!
