This weekend I spent in Coeur D Alene, ID. The 1st "leg" of 2009 Farm fair which we have titled Buggy, Barter and Boogie (or BBB for short). I went there for a few reasons; 1) to meet with a local family who are doing amazing things with their family farm, and 2) to get a better "idea" of Coeur D Alene in order to really "KNOW" what is available for us all when we arrive. One of the things I really wanted to do was to let you see it, through my eyes. I love this little city~ in every season, but of course these are the city in the fall. While I toured antique shops and second hand shops, some quaint farm stores etc. I really just wanted you to see the city this time.... I will add the pictures of the stores later... enjoy...............

When you drive into the city, you are greated with this sign.... To the right of this shot there is a park and public beach and walking paths. You can also board a boat and tour the lake viewing all the beautiful homes....

(others on the trail) This group of college aged kids where having a blast and said I could photograph them
(after of course I had to take pictures of them FOR them), I loved that the beauty of their surroundings hadnt escaped them...

(the Lake)

(The Lake)

(walking on the trail around the lake), Every photo I took seemed to have such a story. Whether it was an older couple holding hands, or a young mom pushing a baby jogger, an older gentleman "bird watching".. or this one, my favorite..... a girl out walking her puppy... and he was loving every smell...........

More pictures of the Lake

I know again with the lake, but there isn't one view that isn't spectacular.

See what I mean.. No matter where you are on the lake.. it is a scenic view... I cannot wait until you are all here and we are able to "write our own story"... with lots and lots of pictures.

Thanks Pamela... I am sure a lot of the gals will have questions that you can answer......I love CDL.. I had so much fun going up and down 4th Ave finding all the antique and second hand shops, while I was there.

Well, CdA is beautiful, with lots of antique shops, speciality stores and one of my favorite things-the parades. The Christmas parade is part of 'The Festival of Lights," which is one of several events that go on in downtown CdA during the season. It is so Norman Rockwell, especially if there is snow on the ground. It is a great kickoff for the Christmas season. At the end of the parade everyone moves down to the park, they light a candle (which are given out in the stores) and they sing "Silent Night." I never miss a parade unless I am out of town. We get a hot cocoa from one of the shops and dress warm and have a blast.
There is actually a great 4th of July parade as well. We don't miss it, either. Just so happens that my hubby's birthday is on the 4th, so all of America celebrates!
As for places to stay...well I have two guest rooms in my home and a large backyard (for campers)...but I am not sure where we will be or what will be going on next year...so I will refrain from offering them up at this point. But I will post if it looks like we will be around. I am about 7 minutes from downtown CdA.
If there are any questions about CdA...let me know and I will help in answering. I have lived here for 16 years.

What lovely photos, thanks for sharing them. I live on the other side of the country but I have hopes someday of visiting the western U S again....I used to love to go on cross country trips when i was young and gas was cheap.

There is something about CDL that is magical. Having grown up in Coulee City WA. about an hour and a half away, CDL has always been a place that I loved to visit ~ There is no real way to describe it, so you will all just have to come and experience it for yourself....

Julie if you dont get here in July, I will mail some sand and water to you :)
