I wanted to get some homeschool materials as a supplement to her private education. She is in private pre-k this year and next since she was born in December she will not start kindergarden till Aug08. We are planning on placing her in a private kindergarden and continue her private schooling at another school. She has autism and the special needs public schools here are not very helpful. The private special needs schools are too expensive. There is a private school willing to take her in as an inclusive student but I worry she will not be able to keep up with the required standards for kindergarden. I was thinking about using homeschool texts to help her keep up. I've looked into homeschool sites briefly but are there any homeschool texts out there that are not religious based? We go to church but I would rather teach her out of a non secular set of texts for personal reasons. I saw Calvert school are there any others?

Thank you for all your replies. I'm looking into the Oak Meadow. It sounds like a program she would like and I could keep her attention on. Thanks again for all your help.

Try www.edenservices.org. It is a satellite of schools and services for autistic individuals up to adults. We have a friend whose son was there during preschool years and he came so far that he is presently enrolled in public school, mainstreamed and doing quite well. They are constantly involved in seminars and techniques so it may provide you with a good link to more information. I am not far if you need me to p/u and /or mail you anything.

There are all kinds of homeschooling curriculums out there:

Just a encouragement my friend is homeschooling her ppd son and he has made great strides! Even more than when she was schooling part time and he was doing special needs the other part.

We use Oak Meadow. The early elementary years are very nature friendly. Last year E did 7th grade and I was incredibly impressed with the unbiased approach toward world religions as a doorway to cultural/historical exploration.
