I'd like to do back carries with my 18 month old. We have a soft moby/sleepy wrap but I don't do back carries with it because the stretchiness scares me.

I'd like to save up for a girasol but what makes that fabric special for a woven wrap and can't I just find 5.5 yards of similar fabric at a fabric store? I just have a problem paying so much money for something like that. . . I know women in other countries don't pay that for their carriers (wraps).

Has anyone else made their own non-stretchy wrap? Thanks for any tips/idea's! :)

Just depends on the kid Diana. My DD at 6 still wants me to! lol

I would just pay, because you are paying for high quality fabric.

more then likely the women in other countries are getting high quality fabric to use for their own, not stuff from Joann's. By the time you find a source and get it...more then likely that high of quality fabric would cost you about the same.

I would however, look for a babywearing group and borrow one to make sure you like it before spending that much, then look on facebook in your area for a baby wearing group that sells/trades them. Usually you can get a pretty good deal (at least 30% cheaper) on those types of groups, and sometimes bigger discounts. If you can find a natural baby store/boutique many of them also have a "consignment" corner where you will get used/barely used ones for a pretty good discount.

Neither one of my kids would have even stayed or wanted to be in a wrap at 18 months.
