Anyone remember how to play gin rummy? I played it as a kid and want to re-learn it. I ordered a book from the library too. I haven't checked YouTube yet, but they may have a tutorial.

I plan to play more card games this Christmas break.

I love playing Rummy. My dad and I used to have Rummy championships when we were on vacation up in Hayward, WI. Back then we didn't have a TV at the cabin and we played cards every evening.

I used to know how to play double deck pinochle but can't remember anymore. That was a lot of fun too, but needs 4 players.

Have fun relearning the game!

I play Gin Rummy AND 5 Crowns. Love both. Gin Rummy has some variations. My DH claims there's a "Southern Way" to play, where you either CAN pick up the whole stack under the card you want, but then you don't have to play the top card on that turn. I think the regular way is that you pick up the stack under the card you want, but you have to lay down that top card in a set on that turn. Either that, or it was vice versa.

We just picked up 5 Crowns at a game store a few months ago and have only played it a couple of times, but it's fun.

I used to play Gin rummy or Rummy 500 with my dear grandma for hours when I was a kid. I dont remember exactly but I think we used to start out with 7 cards each and try and get 3 or a kind/4 or a kind and such. Cards all had a value- hmmmm. Oh I cant remember- but I DO remember it was ALOT of fun and entertained us for hour son end. Ah the good ole' days!
Good luck, and please post what you find out.Sounds like a great way to spend a Christmas break!
Hugs,

~Laurie
