My kids are starting to get bored during their break from school. They are wishing it started sooner. So....I am working on a short, fun homeschool week for them. Any ideas? I used to homeschool but have no ideas right now. They all cook, and the ages are 9, 11, 14, and 16 (all girls). My 18 year old has a job so he's not "bored" as they are - ha ha!
I think we will all do some P90X and DDR for family fun exercise today, but really have no other ideas.

The kids will be baking cookies with cookie dough that a wonderful farmgirl here sent me. They were already discussing it last night. Can't wait to enjoy them.

I homeschool my 3 girls, we have been workin on gifts. I have them makin cookies, candy, quick breads, and cards. They are so busy tryin to out do each other they don't have time to be bored. They also made all our wrappin paper earlier and had to make gifts for each other, so they were sneakin all over the house and barn lookin for supplies and tryin not to be seen while tryin to peek at each other. It was hilarious!

My kids loved anythign I let them do that is creative. They loved to draw or make things. One year we made christmas trees out of metal clothes hangers & tinsel ropes. Some we put lights on some we didn't but the kids made their own christmas presents for everyone. |

Today I decided the kids will all write an essay. The topic will be the happiest memory for themselves, for 2010. I'm still thinking about other lessons. I think having them write will be fun. I am also working on a project with baby Jesus.

I homeschooled mine last year & for holidays I would print out materials that went along with what the true meaning of that holiday was & we did projects to go along with it. Like last year for Easter we talked about what the real meaning of Easter was & not just the giant rabbit that brings candy & they did projects on how different countries celebrated Easter & we even made some of the things like England makes hot cross buns for Easter so we made some. The kids had fun & we all learned at the same time. I always try to teach the real meaning of a holiday & not just the commercialized version most kids have come to know. This Christmas we have been baking & it helps teach the kids about adding fractions & measurements(If the recipe calls for 1/3 C & are making 2 or 3 batches how much do we need to use) They are learning & don't even know it. They just think they are making a treat. I hope this helps & I hope yall have a great holiday. |
