We're first time parents and your 8 week old is starting to sleep 6 hours at night (10-4 or 9-3). He is also getting into more of a pattern for napping. Instead of napping 20-40 mininutes 4 or 5 times he's going down for 1-2 hours twice. But.....should I wake him if he's sleeping longer than 2 hours? For example - he went down at 1:45pm and it's now almost 4:15pm? I don't want to mess up our night time. Actually, I want to get to a point where he's going down at 9 and sleeping till 6.

Thanks for any advice - I appreciate it!

Let him sleep his schedule will adjust. You'll notice that he'll have longer periods of being awake during the day and begin to sleep longer periods at night (though not necessarily a straight 7 hours).

We have four children and each of them were different but as one mom to another just let him rest.

I would never wake Nora up. I figured that her tummy would wake her up when needed. Glad to hear he is sleeping so well lately!

My Tori used to do that. Our pediatrician told us never to wake a sleeping baby. We never really took that advice until our 3 child. Believe me, it worked out a whole lot better. Our #3 baby set himself on a schedule. Now he is out rain or shine by 8pm and up only twice in the night. He is 9 months old, and has been doing this for as long as I can remember.
I can't give professional advice, but I know after three kiddos, that's the best I can give. :D Baby's know when they need to sleep.
