With Baby's pending arrival in 9 more days, I have been packing and unpacking and repacking our bags for the hospital. I am pretty well nested out. Not because I am done cleaning, but because the body doesn't want to cooperate so the next best thing to cure the nesting habit is our bags.
So, after having packed the diaper bag so full that it wouldn't zip shut and packing my bag enough times to wear our the zipper, I thought I would see what you ladies think should go in there.

When I had my first I had so much stuff in there, that I could have stayed a month and we didn't have room in the car to fit it all in one trip.
For my second, he came home in hospital clothes because I wasn't prepared enough and forgot to bring him a coming home outfit and since it was so cold he couldn't wear anything I did bring for him.

I'd love to hear what you all think.
hugs,
Jessie

Don't forget things for yourself. shampoo, conditioner, razor(cause you will be able to see your feet again), bath poof if you use body wash, hair dryer, and makeup for the 1st day when everyone comes to see you. hard candy for labor. At our hospital the momma's are on a clear liquid diet while in labor, but hard candy is allowed for that dry mouth while doing Lamaze breathing. Our hospital will supply diapers, baby wash and baby wipes. expect friends and family to bring diapers, wipes, and baby shampoo. Definitely bring warm fuzzy socks, and a couple of your own pillows. Our hospital never has enough and the ones we have are terribly uncomfortable. By the way I am a labor nurse in Oklahoma. Hope this helps.

Thanks Kris :) Now that it is so close, I am hoping that I go all the way. I am so nervous, but am thankful to have a date and time to count down to. I called today and they told me I am scheduled for 8:00am on Feb. 2nd. (Hubby's birthday) All along I've so wanted to be done and have it all over with, but now, I feel soooo not ready and am praying hard that I go right to the day. I've been having contractions a lot the last two days, but nothing serious enough to call in. Just hoping he'll cooperate...hehe :D
I will be sure to let you know.

Bring extra clothes for the baby. I had to change my daughter 3 times before we could leave the hospital! I'm so glad you have been able to go this long, Jessie. You did good. Can't wait to hear about the little guy soon.

When my last was born, someone suggested buying a couple pair of panties with the tummy control panel, a size larger that what I would normally wear. Just enough support for your stomach muscles without being too tight and they kept the horrid pads in place comfortably. They were heaven!!!
And I agree with Jonni, hospital gowns creep me out too. I took three of my own nursing nighties.
Best wishes to you Jessie.

2 baby outfits socks hat and warm blanket. Grandsons was to big for newborn when born hense the 2 outfits.
Yoga pants and top for your self slippers sox and of course your hair and make up stuff. Keep in mind they are prepared for the baby diapers formula t shirts and such not so much for you. And remember also that if it is in the room and opened you hav already paid for it and if you don't take it They will throw it away.

Yeah, Alee's right about the socks! My feet were soooo cold! Especially after the medicine wore off from the c-section. I had a nice loose gown, that was still "pretty". Hospital gowns just creep me out :)

I would make sure to pack some nice comfy socks- I had to go to the hospital two weeks early and kindof in an emergency I didn't have a bag packed. When I asked Doug to bring me socks- he brought me two and they weren't the same at all! one was a ankle sock and one was a crew! He will wear unmatched socks but I can't stand it! Also bring some yoga pants and something comfortable to wear during labor that you don't mind them cutting off in an emergency. I hate those hospital gowns because I am so short. I drown in them.
Then a going home outfit and a blankie or two. Also your own pillow if you need your own pillow to sleep. Oh and a bag with your tolietries in them. I had to wash my hair with baby soap from the hospital! LOL

I brought newborn dipes, 2 onsies, a sleeping gown and some knit pants (all of which were WAY too large on her, even though they said, "Newborn")...candy, some snacks and magazines/books for Jus and I, a nuk (but don't let the lactation consultant see it if you're breast feeding--they go whacko!), and a nice toasty blanket, and 2 receiving blankets. I recall leaving with far more than I came with--they give you a bag with all the "sample" stuff and books/pamphlets galore, so leave yourself some room in the bag :)

I brought diapers (just a few), t-shirt, outfit, and a blanket. If it's cold you might want something like a bunting. Everything for me and baby fit in one bag. But I only stayed in the hospital 17 hours with my last one. I felt good and wanted to be at home.
