I used a lot of different cloth diapers, but for some reason Motherease Diapers were my favorite as well as their covers. I liked that they weren't bulky. I preferred snaps to velcro and another favorite cover was Bummi's Super Whisper Wraps.

Ooooh, I love babycottonbottoms.com!!
I use Fuzzi Bunz. They aren't cotton though. I have used pretty much every cloth diaper in the book and they are by far my favorite!

I used snaps and velcro. I basically made them like the ones you can buy from the bigger companies. I make them pocket diapers. I used all different kinds of fabric at first but now I use the PUL on the outside (thin waterproof fabric) and micro fiber on the inside with micro fiber and terry cloth inserts. I'll take a picture of them later on today for you. Mine are one size fits all as well because I put the three rows of snaps on the outside to make it smaller.

I used either cotton knit (liked the feel of that better for the contoured) or cotton flannel.

The contoured ones are nice and thick- no need for extra inserts. The way I sew mine- the insert is inside the diaper. Then I just put a diaper wrap on the outside and hardly ever had leaks.

The flat folds are just 22 inches for a newborn of square flannel folded in the Origami fold pattern then pinned. As they grow out of each of them, add 10 inches until you reach the maximum width of 44 inches. Nora wore flat folds until she was crawling lots and then we did contoured.

I sewed on velcro to the outside of her diapers.

What kind of material do you use when making your own? I would love to see a picture of a homemade cotton diaper. I have never heard of such a thing, before. Learn something new everyday. Do you use liners in them or are they thick enough to hold on their own. Did everyone use snaps or is there anything else you could use? Velcro maybe? How did the snaps hold up? :)
lol..sorry this is just such a novelty to me, that I am very much interested.

I made my own as well! Are you looking for the fitted ones that look like paper diapers or are you thinking more of flat folds?

When we were using cloth diapers, I had good experiences with both of these stores:

http://babycottonbottoms.com/

We used prefolds mostly and a few Thirsties covers, and a few BumGenius fitteds.

They're really easy to make ;) I made all mine, snaps and everything.

I had a few flat folds that were from Babies R Us or Target but I really loved Kissaluvs diapers. They are cotton and have snaps. I didn't pay a lot for them. I gave mine to a friend and she used those with her 2 kids. My neighbor bought hers off of Ebay, got a great deal, used them with 2 kids and they are ready for another baby. So if you are planning on using them with more babies in the future they really pay for themselves many times over.

I know a lot of girls on here don't like the store very much..hehe...but Walmart carries really nice Birdseye 100% cotton diapers. They are a little bit pricey, but really no different than you would get online or anywhere else. :D
